Re: steering box oil plug for E20

Hi, The play in the steering might be improved by removing a shim from the back cover of the steering box. Do you have a Bishop Gear box? You might be interested in a replacement part designed by Vintage MG Parts (http://www.vintagemgparts.com/bishop_cam.html). There are companies around who will re...

Re: steering box oil plug for E20

Just a thought. Why not remove the oil plug and replace it with a rubber bung as a temporary measure until you have a new oil plug manufactured. Then at least you have the original part available for reference. All the best, Ranald

Re: Bishop Gear Steering Box shims

Thanks for your suggestion. I could ask them if they would consider a smaller order. Occasionally, just occasionally, when I phone trade suppliers I come across someone really helpful. I've even had someone saying the easiest way for them to help was to send a free sample!

Re: Bishop Gear Steering Box shims

I think I might have to make my own shims. I need brass sheets at least 150mm x 150mm and .002” thick. There are a few suppliers on ebay but typically their sheet sizes are 150mm x 75mm. Does anyone know where i can buy the sheet size i need? Thanks for reading this. Ranald

Re: Daimler 15 Rear axel wheel bearing oil seals.

Hi, There are lots of suppliers in the Uk for lip seals. You will however need to provide them with the dimensions. One I have dealt with (also used by others on this forum) is https://www.premierpowerproducts.co.uk/

Re: Daimler 15 Rear axel wheel bearing oil seals.

Hi, Not sure if you will manage to find a replacement felt oil seal. Normally folks replace these old seals with modern lip seals. When i did the same job on my Lanchester, I managed to fit double lip seals.. Hopefully someone with a 15 might be able to recommend the correct size for your applicatio...

Hi Brian, I had some good work done by AGRA in Dundee. http://www.agra-eng.co.uk/services/clas ... ngineering
You could ask them for an indication of price.
