Hi, Just in case you can’t find any, I can recommend GS Valves who will manufacture to order. Might be worth getting a quote anyway.

Re: Engine identity??
I’m not sure either. Maybe DB17, I did see a photo on the internet and the valve clearance plate was on the same side as this one. What seems odd is that it has nice knurled thumb screws which were typically older but the ‘newer’ style of oil filler cap.

Re: Engine identity??
Hi Jed, I posted without realising there are 2 pages on this topic so I missed your discussion about the mis-matching head. How strange. It can’t be E18 or E20 as they both had non detachable heads. Nor is it Lanchester 15/18 or 18.

Re: Engine identity??
I was thinking Lanchester 15/18 until I saw the fan belt pulley. I think that marks it out as a Daimler LQ.

Is that the West Yorkshire history centre (Wakefield Archive)? Email; wakefield@wyjs.org.uk
As Mike is in the USA, maybe they would be prepared to look into his query (for a fee?) - always worth Mike asking.

OUM. Licensing Authority; Leeds. First issued Aug 1951. Last issued Nov 1951. You could try Kithead Trust or contact Local History Archives in Leeds. Good luck! Ranald

Re: Ace Wheel Discs
After some excitement, I’m put off by their fees. Min 2 hours research fee at usd 50 per hour plus digitisation fee. Obviously no guarantee they will find what I want. It looks like certain items already digitalised are available to view free. For example, I opened a sales brochure for a Lanchester ...

Re: Ace Wheel Discs
Dear Richard, That was a productive cuppa! What an interesting archive. There’s more than one item I intend following up. I’ll let you know how I get on. As an aside, a few years back when I was researching a Lanchester owned by Leonard and Virginia Woolf I found photographs were held by Harvard Uni...

Re: Ace Wheel Discs
Thanks for your reply Richard. I’m interested in earlier wheel discs. Specifically early 1930s. They were quite popular as a way of streamlining the car’s appearance and with discs fitted in pairs, road muck didn’t reach the spokes. I attach a contemporary advert.

Ace Wheel Discs
Cornercroft Ltd, Ace Works, Coventry manufactured wheel discs in the 1930s (and maybe later). I think the chrome inner discs and centre wing nuts were probably standard across the range. However, the aluminium discs would have been pressed in various diameters and designs. Each one has a unique iden...
