Re: SP250 residual brake pressure valve and remote servo - brakes binding?

Many thanks for all the sage advice, thoughts and suggestions..... Am pleased to report that the issue is now fixed and it was indeed the restrictor valve. Once on the bench and stripped it turned out there was no contamination in it, but it had FAR too beefy a spring fitted...... I can only assume ...

Re: SP250 residual brake pressure valve and remote servo - brakes binding?

Thanks, I'll have a search through the archives.... The restrictor valve is pretty much the only thing left on our braking system that hasn't been changed.... It's had new flexi hoses all round already, all calipers rebuilt, new master cylinder and now a new servo.... Interesting to know that a numb...

SP250 residual brake pressure valve and remote servo - brakes binding?

It has become clear that I have an issue with the brakes on our SP250 as they are binding.... Initially it was concluded that the Lockheed remote servo was to blame as the brakes were slow to release after letting off the pedal. This seems to be a pretty common issue widely reported in Scimitar circ...

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

Earths was one of the things we attended to. A time-served sparks tipped me off many years ago that 90% of electrical problems (wherever) were generally down to poor earths... We added additional and renewed where necessary to ensure there was a properly good earth from the battery. I had also glean...

Re: Typical SP250 engine operating temperature / thermostat clarity...

Excellent advice and comments! Thank you gentlemen 8-) Given what's been said I would guess I have an 88 degree thermostat fitted and that would probably fit with where I am seeing the gauge readings.... useful tip to look for vertical needles when cruising, thank you. Having nudged the Kenlowe it s...

Typical SP250 engine operating temperature / thermostat clarity...

Having finally managed to get our lovely old SP250 running properly (see separate thread for that saga!), we want to make sure it continues to do so for years to come.... With that in mind attention has turned to the operating temperature of the engine. We do not have the original fixed fan arrangem...

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

Well, I'm back.... grubby and weary... but triumphant! :D Much further tinkering and elimination of components left the finger of blame pointing squarely at the electronic ignition unit, as I had begun to suspect..... Consequently I went through the faff of reverting to an original points and conden...

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

Thank you Peter, a good suggestion, but alas that one has been ticked off the list already as new earths have already been completed - unfortunately symptoms remained. Last nights round of testing produced further interesting observations and revelations... I feel like I am edging closer to the prob...

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

Gentlemen, thank you for your further useful and insightful comments. I take on board the wise observations over fuel starvation and will investigate this further - you're quite right that a full fuel bowl does not necessarily equate to adequate fuel flow and I have been hasty to assume otherwise......

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

Thank you for the continuing thoughts on our Dart problem... I had a good session on the car last night and, on the basis that a picture tells a thousand words, have captured a video of the symptoms! But first, here's what I started with.... I started by checking the +ve and -ve wires were the right...
