Re: SP250 - That Narrow Rear Track

The lock stop is adjustable, any of the standard wheels will hit the inner wing if not adjusted correctly even with 165 tyres on original steels which are only 4J

Re: Radiator Refurbishment.

If you click on the photo then zoom (hold ctrl then press + until it zooms to+ your preferred size. a tablet isn't good enough), it can be seen that the brackets are welded to the top and bottom rails of the radiator, the fan is then screwed to the brackets

Re: SP250 - That Narrow Rear Track

Track depends on the offset, I used 5.5J TR6 wires on one SP and Morgan 4x4 5J wires on the other both of which gave a wider track than the standard steel rims, on most cars increasing the rim width usually increases the track as there is not normally enough clearance to change the off set to be pos...

Re: Fuel tank sender unit resitance

You can also adjust the deflection to read at the full and empty marks by loosening the two nuts on the rear of the gauge and minutely moving them which will control the needle deflection, they interact so it's not as simple as moving the sender to its extremities and adjusting each one. When origin...

Re: SP 250 header tank

I've always made my own, one of alloy with the help of a welder friend, the other of brass and brazed, there were many pressure cap recepticles in brass in those days from the scrappies.

Re: SP250 Original Pressed Wheels

You can purchase a crack testing kit from most welding suppliers, consists of two spray cans, magnetic dye and developer, spray on the dye then developer, crack shows as a dark grey line. Wheel colours are probably moot, with full Acer trims the wheels could be any colour mine were Matt black on a d...

Re: Hood to screen seal info as its raining IN the car

Unless you have the "L" section overlapping the top rail rain will always get in, the "T" section is only there to stop drips that may have passed the "L" section. Despite what you may think the hood wooden rail lifts at speed therefore the overlap "L" rubber is your main defence against water ingre...

Re: Hood to screen seal info as its raining IN the car

Never had a problem with the standard seals, inverted "T" section that fits in the top rail plus the "L" section that is fitted under the metal strip and overlaps the top rail, certainly good for 100mph in pouring rain.
