Re: Engine vibration

Have you thought about the clutch, though it would be painful, remove the gearbox and clutch, support the rear of the engine and check again, normally the Daimler engine is vibration free throughout the rev range and I can't see it being engine related if its OK below 3000rpm. I assume you have test...

Re: SP250 Holley Carburettor

I remember an article about the conversion possibly in the Driving Member in the 70's, it involved machining the SP inlet manifold down to the level of the bottom of the SU mounting and fitting a conversion plate, I can't remember whether it was bolted on or welded, I think there was no bonnet modif...

Re: More Brakes! - sp250

I don't see haw you can safely fit a twin system master cylinder with standard calipers, to have an effective twin braking system the front calipers would need to be twin pot. Splitting the front to rear would not be effective, there is not enough weight on the rear of the car to have any braking ef...

Re: Gearbox slippage

Auto gear boxes of that era tend to almost immediately change into 3rd if the kick down cable breaks, so I would check it is not jammed under tension and if that's not the case slacken it off.

Re: Police SP's

I can remember that the BW 35 box could suddenly produce full power after a delay when initially flooring of the accelerator, but only with a damaged torque converter, which would have been swiftly repaired by the Met in those days.

Re: New Owner - 1968 Daimler 250 Saloon - Suffolk

I think that if I was fitting something like that I would create an air-dam and force the air upwards, I know that the cars aren't driven enthusiastically but when BLMC added the air-dam to the Marina it transformed the handling and reduced fuel consumption, it wouldn't be out of era 68/69 was the s...

Re: dart brake master reservoir

That I don't remember exactly but probably a fibre one, should it have been a rubber type there would be more reports of them failing, though silicon could be a good replacement. With reference to the offset, if you can't find one with the offset it is a fairly easy modification to solder a plate wi...

Re: dart brake master reservoir

From what a remember it's just a tin container that was held on with a nut and washers plus a seal, therefore any reservoir that fits will do, it is not peculiar to the SP many vehicles used the reservoir, it's the master cylinder that's no so common. there may even be a plastic version, I think £94...
