You can buy new oil pumps from the usual suppliers.
There has been some discussion about upgrading pumps and although there are different opinions I think the conclusion is that it's not necessary. My new pump gives me all the pressure I need.

Re: Engine vibration
Soon after I got my engine rebuild I had a vibration/misfire when accelerating. It turned out to be either a faulty (new) spark plug or oil getting down the spark plug tube. Not sure which because I sorted out the seal and changed the plug and all was well. Few mechanics understand the spark plug tu...

Re: V8-250 horn ring issue
I'm away at the moment so I only have my (failing) memory to rely on but I remember when I did mine that there are 3 (I think) small nylon nuts and adjusting (backing off) these solved that problem for me.

Re: Siezed engine STILL.!
Do remember the heads need to be 'flatter" than heads for engines that have compressable gasket- I think this is where my people went wrong and just did it to 'ordinary' flatness

Thanks Ivor - I'll have a look K seal - it's not weeping much but the occasional blue blob on friends' drives is embarrassing and stops me showing him off

Re: Siezed engine STILL.!
I had my engine reconditioned year or so ago and apart from the cylinder head seal, they did an excellent job. Straight away both gaskets were leaking coolant. The local Jaguar expert garage said I should send it straight back to the reconditioners (and to be fair they agreed to 'do it again') but t...

Re: Gearbox slippage
You say that you 'think' it's not getting into 3rd. If you could provide a rev counter reading and a road speed someone will be able to tell you what gear you're in. If you select D the gearbox will start in 2nd and change into 3rd quite soon. It's all very low geared so you might think you're in 2n...

Re: Electrical puzzle on V8 saloon
I don't have a circuit diagram to hand but the indicators and the brake lights light independently to each other so the only common factor is their earth. The side lights I guess also use this earth (at least at the rear) so are they working? If they don't work either it's pretty certain to be the e...

Re: V8 Manual front seats - info please
From your photo it looks to me that they are simply 'wrong'. They are neither straight nor curved - something in between.
I have had good experience with Aldridge so I'm sure they'll sort it out

Re: fuel guage
Our cars may be different but in my experience with cars of this era a gauge showing full indicates a short in the wire going to the sender.
