Re: Daimler LQ3-20 info.

I had several Luvax shocks overhauled by Stevson motors in Birmingham. He advised strongly against hydraulic fork oils and said it should be a 90 grade, quite a thick oil.
He supplied me a litre bottle for topping up purposes but so far I've not needed it.

Re: Buying a La 10

I have had very recent experience of the same kind of Differential from my Daimler Fifteen. Quite by accident, I discovered a potential disaster just waiting to happen. After an oil change, quite a lot of discoloured oil drained out so I ventured to take the top cover off for a look inside. I then f...

Re: Radiator refurbishment

There must be a local Coolex Branch, formerly Serk Marston. They re-cored my V8-250 radiator and it was an excellent job. Never had any cooling problem since, even in traffic on very hot days and no need for additional fans.

Re: Insurance Company Tactics

In my opinion, all insurance companies are thieving rogues, and I dispute they are cost cutting. They only do what suits them making a profit, and costs you more. As an example: If you make a claim, the following year your premium will increase dramatically, and will gradually depreciate over a numb...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Alternator staked through bolts

Use an old screwdriver (large blade one) and grind out a slot in the centre of the blade so you can engage the two tangs either side of the protruding bolt. Then you can undo it easily.

Re: Hard Start

From what you describe I think it suggests a battery fault. If you have cell caps, remove each and examine if any look blackened like soot, any loss of electrolyte in any particular cell. Any smell of eggs around it when it's being charged. If you have a hydrometer, draw off a sample of the electrol...

Re: The preselector (Wilson) gearbox

If you have the fluid coupling then yes, providing the idle speed is low. You must remember to set the hand throttle back to low speed setting.

Re: The preselector (Wilson) gerabox

Hi Stefan. I have a pre select Daimler Fifteen with fluid flywheel, and an Armstrong Siddeley Fifteen (1933) also with pre select transmission but no fluid flywheel. On the Armstrong Siddeley you have to employ the gear change pedal as a clutch on starting away in first or reverse much as in a manua...
