Re: Steering column noise

I have just, finally, resolved this problem on a DS420 which has a very similar column. It was nothing to do with the bushes, but a simple case of incorrect assembly of the lower yoke to the splined shaft. There is a machined recess in the very bottom of the column for the pinch bolt that clamps the...

Re: Special Sports water in the oil ! Again...

Whoa! Hold on, don't get carried away stripping it yet. On my Fifteen, after an engine rebuild I had the horror of a sump full of grey oil but I was certain it could not be the head gasket. I refilled the coolant, took the rocker cover off and patiently waited, engine still cold, and lo and behold, ...

What size are the wheels and tyres? I take it they are spoked wires and that they're in good order?
Photo of the Different and rear axle would be good.

Re: daimler brakes

Sounds like a sticking calliper piston that doesn't return after release. Look out for one wheel hub that gets warmer than the others on the fronts, any pull on steering? Difficult to assess rears though as inboard but disc may look a bit blued? Otherwise, could be a servo piston sticking. I'm no ex...

Re: Recovery services - any good for old cars?

I have had occasion to use the RAC over the last 8 years and found their guys very knowledgable about older cars, and they say it makes a pleasant change to work on the older cars. However, very few have any Whitworth spanners and I have had to instruct them on how stuff works on occasion. So far, b...

Re: Speed limiters for all new cars

Any good sat nav already recognises speed limits but the way our councils keep changing them will entail every user to continuously update them. One of our major problems in Nottingham is deteriorating air quality and this is due to congestion and quite frankly no serious proper thinking on traffic ...

Try Classic and Vintage Dynamos in Shirebrook, Nottinghamshire. 01623 747666.
When I had a tour of their workshop they had cages full of such items and they recon them.
