Re: Daimler V8 - Restoration Update
Pete - Yeah, I too have seen the prices of the MK2 grilles, not cheap. Any half-decent chromework seems to fetch a high price, I guess because re-chroming is such an expensive option. The S-Type grille will definitely stay for the time being, but long term, who knows, I may get lucky. Great info abo...

Re: Daimler V8 - Restoration Update
Thanks Pete - Well, I thought I HAD bought a MK2 grille. I bought it a long time ago as part of a bundle of other MK2 stuff and assumed it was also a MK2. It was only recently when someone pointed it out that I realised it was an S-Type. I may well look for a MK2 grille before finally fitting it as ...

Re: New Owner - 1968 Daimler 250 Saloon - Suffolk
Thanks for sharing the info regarding the door seals Armstrong. It's something I'm just looking at as it happens. Over the years I've seen many posts from owners complaining about 'too stiff' door seals which don't allow the doors to close properly. This looks a viable option. I also have to buy fro...

Re: Daimler V8 - Restoration Update
Thanks Jim and BFG. Well, here we go! I realise I'm opening a big can of worms, but here's the latest work. Starting to get the chrome work fitted. Got a reasonable bumper yesterday, and that's gone on easily enough. Also the grille and mascot. I can reveal that there has been a gender change, and s...

Daimler V8 - Restoration Update
For the guys not following my resto on my blog, here's an update on my progress. Couple of weeks ago I managed to get some paint on her. It's a home-done garage jobby, but as far as those type of spray jobs go, it turned out quite well I think. Certainly it's good enough for my budget based project....

Re: What Size Battery Cable Should I Use?
Thank you both for your replies. Some very valid points. I've had a look on ebay and can see the fine stranded and flexible cable to which you refer Peter. The difference in price between 40 and 50 mm cable is insignificant, so I'm currently (no pun intended!) thinking that the larger cable would be...

What Size Battery Cable Should I Use?
OK, might be a bit of a left-field question here, but I'll ask anyway. Due to space restrictions for the usual battery location on my resto project, I need to mount the battery remotely. I have pretty much made my mind up on a boot mounted position. Unfortunately this is about as far away from the i...

Re: V8-250: Alternator Options
Hi Armstrong, Well, that is a perfect answer to my query! What you have done is exactly what I also intend to do. Many thanks for your detailed reply. I'm especially interested in the fact that you have retained the dynamo bracket. I have both brackets (dynamo and alternator) but I would prefer if I...

Re: V8-250: Alternator Options
OK, thank you both. I don't currently (no pun intended!) have an alternator to modify, so I'm looking at buying an ACR unit to make thing simple. I'll have a mooch and see what I can get t fit. I have a number of dynamo brackets and also an alternator bracket. My son has a classic Mini so will try t...

Re: V8-250: Alternator Options
Thanks Richard. So is the C25073 an ACR alternator and does it require any other components? Like you, I want to do away with external regulators etc, and make the setup more simple to wire up. Are there any modern equivalents that physically fit the V8 brackets? I think I've heard someone using a M...
