Re: Sp250 rear axle

Gentlemen, Firstly, I apologize for my disagreement earlier but, ask you to consider this. In the last three years I have purchased two sets of series one c/w and pinion from B. Thorne and have subsequently rebuilt two rear axles. The second one I rebuilt is currently fitted to my car and does have ...

Re: Sp250 rear axle

Sorry to disagree Kevin but, having recently rebuilt a series one axle I can confirm that this is the one with only two plugs.
The top of the axle casing has not been machined to accept a plug.

I too have purchased two sets of rear springs from Owens. Their quality is first class and they are competitively priced.

Re: Assessing Daimler V8 cylinder heads

Hi, The cylinder head thickness originally should be 3.000ins. and I believe they can be machined to minus 0.025ins. without alignment of the inlet manifold being affected.
I have seen extra thick head gaskets available on ebay but, I have personally never needed to use them.

Dart vertical links

Hi, Did anyone else see the pair of vertical links in need of refurbishment, just sold on ebay for £1000.
Obviously quite rare nowadays but, I am a little surprised at what they sold for.

Re: Strange development

White smoke has always indicated a water leak to me. I would monitor the water level in your cooling system.

Re: Recommendation

Zbigmak, looking at your pic., I would say that the trimmer has left the straps long for you to cut to size once you have positioned the turnbuckles.
They are definitely for use with the hood up only.
Hope this helps.

Dart flasher unit

I have just replaced the flasher unit which works fine apart from, when either of the indicators is selected, both lights on the dash flash simultaneously.
Some years ago I changed from pos. to neg. earth but, this did not affect the original flasher unit.
Can anyone help solve this please?

Re: Insurance

I would highly recommend Hagerty. Some years ago I did a survey of many owners and found that were very popular with a lot of the more affluent guys lucky enough to own collections of classics. They are not the cheapest but, I am told that if one does have to make a claim, they are quick to settle. ...
