You may well be correct.
I would be interested to know whether any other SPs are around with the same carb vacuum balance pipe (if that is what it is!). Also any views as to whether this arrangement has any benefit.

Re: SP250 Inlet manifiold
Hi Hans Thanks for the info. Have checked my insulators and note that my 1960 SP250 insulators are approx 3.5mm thick Those from my Jaguar bodied V8 engine are the same thickness as yours. I do note that my SP has a vacuum balance tube between the carbs (see photograph) which is not present in yours...

SP250 Inlet manifiold
In refitting my 1960 SP250 inlet manifold I noticed a small screw on the top as shown circled in the attached photograph. This is linked to the waterway and presumably was used to bleed the system. I note that the screw is not present on a later spare inlet manifold I have from a Jaguar bodied V8. C...

Re: V8 Distributor
When rebuilding my SP250 distributor I stripped down a spare distributor from a V250. I noticed that the V250 distributor had a circular felt oil impregnated disk. This was missing on my SP250 distributor. See attached photograph. I presume that all V8 distributors should have the felt disk.

Re: Warm start issue
I had warm start problems with my SP250 which persisted and ended up replaced points, capacitor, rotor arm, distributor cap, coil (not to mention new fuel pump, fuel filter, checking timing, carb settings, valve clearances etc etc) and the problem persisted. Having aired my frustration on the forum ...

Re: lower suspension brackets on SP250
The bolts should both point to the suspension turret as per the attached diagram. Hope this helps.

Spot on. The balance pipes will not pass through the slots in the chassis and will probably need to be modified.

Re: SP250 Exhaust Balance Pipe fitting
Peter Thanks for the message. I can with some force push the balance pipe past the chassis cross bracing but it then fouls the short sections of chassis immediately before the silencers. An increase of circa 15mm would enable the balance pipe to pass cleanly though the chassis and align with the sil...

Many thanks for positing the photograph (and useful link). It does look like you had the same problem with the balance pipes being some 15mm too close (hence the need for the short insert). DM are pursung with their suppliers.
