Re: Joke !

We went shopping to Rackhams last Saturday, and finished up in their cafeteria - and whilst the wife went to get the tea and buns, a very elegantly dressed lady sidled over to me and asked me if I was looking for a good time! "How much do you charge?" I enquired. "Two hundred pounds" she replied. "T...

Re: Empress colour code

If you can remove a part of the bodywork - trot along to your local Jawel Paints store or any automotive paint stockist - and they will match the colour for you, either by blending, or finding the colour (or very near) from their hundreds of present-day car sample chips. However, I would suggest you...

Re: Special Sports - Oil Bath Air Cleaner

Bear in mind oil bath air cleaners were fitted to many cars around the 1950's and 60's - so once you have determined the overall diameter of the body, you can widen your search and then concoct one by slight alteration if need be to fit your car - just a thought and another route out of the problem!...

Re: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DRIVING IN THE EU IF THERE'S A NO DEAL BREXIT

Irrespective of what the final act of the pantomime we call Brexit is when the thin lady sings, everyone will get in on the Act, and one thing you can be certain of is that in or out, this will be used by all to soak us public in the land weve come to know as "Rip-off-Britain".

Re: Special Sports head torque settings

Way back in the dim and distant past (when we had a proper Government and a party to replace them with) servicing and/or reconditioning the radiator was a standard part of the job when fitting a new or recon engine - as was washing down the engine bay - all for four shillings (20p) an hour.

Re: Daimler LQ 3-20 - tyre size - differential oil

Be careful what oil you put in the diff, as some gear oils have E.P. addatives which will eat the phosphor bronze worm wheel quicker than my grandaughter can devour a curly-wurly!

The oil to use is Silkolene Rhino 140 which is especially blended for worm-drive axles.

Re: Salisbury Differential Specifications

G'day Pete, It might be that just the crown wheel and pinions are interchangable with your friend's Salisbury axle (with just the casings being specific to the make of car), so here are the ratios for the "Conquest/Century" range: Standard Ratios. D.J 250/1/1/3/6/7 4.56:1 Drive gear/pinion 41/9 D.J....

Yes -Castro oil - but it's a bit of a "Fidel" to get at the filler plug!
