Re: Fierce take up (gear box)

Sound advice from the previous post! It is also advisable to drain the gearbox and flush with parafin by running for a few minutes with each gear selected in turn, then let the box drain and dry out competely, before refilling with a straight mono-grade 30 oil. (i.e. don't use a "fancy" grade oil fo...

Re: Daimler 21HP Open Tourer 1923

Goodmorning Beat,

From your picture - that certainly is the correct sleeve valve engine for the car, which makes it very rare. Is it all up and running?

Keep us posted if you are seriously considering buying the car and need any further advice.

Regards,

Stan Thomas.

Re: conquest wheel cylinders

I'm not sure if Daimler increased the size of the front wheel cylinders from 0.875" to one inch - so perhaps someone can comment upon this and/or refer to whatever Girling catalogues etc. may be able to elucidate the question. I raise this because the larger diameter cylinder will produce some 30% m...

Re: Exhaust Blowing

As you may be fitting a new exhaust and chose a stainless one - a few tips!! Make sure on assembly that you do not have to strain or force anything to get it to fit, as this can set up a resonance which can make the system noisy, as it is a characteristic of stainless systems, some of which are made...

Re: Panel lamp for the vacuum reserve tank lights up permanently

Good morning Jorn, A simple check would be to start the engine and run it for a few minutes to (hopefully) build up vacuum. Then switch off - and press the brake pedal a few times. If all is correct, there should be a slight "hiss" and the pedal will progressively have less travel until it become ha...

Re: A warning for all pre war owners.....

Change of polarity was mainly to do with body corrosion - because in simple terms it was a car!! You see, rushing through the air produces static electricity, which promotes an electolytic action to combines steel with oxygen to produce ferous oxide - commonly known as rust, and it was considered "p...

Re: conquest chassis lubrication

The auto chassis lubrication on the Conquest range relies upon thermal expansion insofar as there is a small steel "expander-bottle" located near the exhaust which contains two one-way valves - each pointing in the same direction. As the oil in the reservoir heats up, it expands past the outlet valv...
