Re: Heater/Carb water pipes

Around 15 years ago I had a pair of polished stainless tees made by 'Stainless Exhaust Specialist' prior to the 4:2:1 stainless exhaust manifolds that he made for me, which have since been used by others. They may still be able to make them - the tees are still going strong of course, and I changed ...

Re: DB18 Consort Exhaust

I too have had a P D Gough exhaust on the Dauphin (Century), probably, for 20 years. It was a joy to fit, unlike mild steel systems, because everything lined up without hitting the chassis somewhere. It is as good today as it was then. 'A thing of beauty and a joy forever'. You pay your money and ma...

Re: Adjustable Steering Column Slippage

I used Graham's method, with a nylon faced hammer so as not to damage anything else too much. I did this only after the short circuit of the horn wiring caused by frequent rubbing of the stator tube wiring loom as the steering wheel moved in and out, so good idea to do it before that happens. The ca...

Re: Draining Engine Oil

Afternoon all I'm surprised by the interest that this thread has aroused, being less than one week old. I'm not sure whether I've missed it somewhere, but no one seems to have mentioned the difference between a standard SP 2.5 V8 and a saloon 2.5 V8. I apologise if I have missed it, but a standard S...

Re: 250 V8 Auto box

Years ago I had an '82 Double Six. En route to Glamis Castle one Sunday it suddenly emitted a dramatic plume of gray smoke visible in the mirror but with no other issue, rather like a warship laying smoke for cover. I drove on carefully because we were not far from the destination, there was no chan...

Re: Crankshaft damper for fast road V8 engine?

Niels Apologies for my very slow response, much going on at this time of year. Unfortunately I don't know how much weight had to come off the rods, nor why there were rods fom more than one engine involved. it may have been the previous owner who did have the engine out in the 70s, but I had it rebu...

Very much so Alan, and glad I did, though disappointed not to meet Bill G the Creator! It is a magnificent machine, perhaps the purest example of the type ever. Delighted to hear that the SP Stand was awarded second prize! I've had mine so long without returning it to the road that I'm sure everyone...
