Re: Overheating

I think Richards contribution is as good as it gets but I also agree with John. When I got my SP it was fitted with R&P steering and there was an electric fan in front of the rad with a switch tucked under the dash. I have become used to the eccentricities of the set up, the fan is run off permanent...

Re: Brake Drums

Hi Chris, this is not uncommon with Lockheed brakes and Simon has outlined the most common problems. I have found that as you try to fit the drum, the brake shoe tips ever so slightly toward the back plate preventing the drum from slipping on. The old solution was to grind a chamfer on the outer edg...

Re: conquest chassis lubrication

Bryan, I wish. The self lubricating system is all there on my 15 but a previous owner or garage has decimated it, they chopped off the feed pipes and left them hanging near the shackles and fitted grease nipples. I have no way of knowing how long ago that was but all bar two of the shackle pin units...

Re: Empress 2 for Sale

Silver fox, this subject was first raised back in 2016 and eventually petered out. Out of interest I checked the DVLA status of the car, shows it has a 2651cc engine so I guess the original engine, says it is blue and the last tax ran out in April 2018. Either some one has refurbished the original o...

Re: 1934 BSA 10hp RWD

Hi John. I have a similar problem with my Daimler 15 only the other way round, in that originally it was fitted with an SU carb but some time in its life a Solex has been fitted, a long time ago from the state of it so the engine must at some time have run well with it. The problem I have with the S...

Re: Engine woes. ! !

Great job on that carb conversion Al, looks very original even if we do know different, can't wait to get my HV4 on my 15 now, but building work has stopped play for a bit. Great to hear you are on the mend hope, they get it under control for you, despite the moans and groans our NHS is second to no...

Re: None but The Brave. ....................

I love this bit "Although not a difficult restoration for a multi skilled person (REALLY?) some considerable time will be involved. (I WOULD SAY SO) The engine will require the refitting of the cylinder heads and manifolds, (POP IN A NEW SET OF PLUGS DROP OF ENGINE OIL AND YOU ARE GOOD TO GO) the ma...

Re: 1938 EL24 for sale

As you say Mark a very fine elegant motor, but in a poor choice of "Traditional black over ivory". That boot lid looks quite wrong. Lot of motor for the money and with a re-colour to, dare I say it, black boot lid with custard yellow or a nice rich silver instead of ivory. I guess the colour scheme ...
