Re: Conquest over charging

Phil If you are using a digital meter, the most likely problem is a low meter battery voltage.

They are not at all accurate, if the battery in the meter is too low. Syd

Re: Conquest over charging

I agree, by the description of the fault that the regulator is the main suspect, the suggestions as to how to check it are good, but I have real doubts about introducing electronics into our cars for the sake of it. I am a retired TV engineer and know full well how vulnerable semiconductor devices c...

Re: Car cover for Dart, fleece not recommended

John. I had to store my SP250 out doors and put a fleece lined cover on it for several months when I first got it. The result was small goose pimple blisters all over the body. My body paint man at the time said it was because the paint had not cured completely and the exclusion of air had caused a ...

Re: DJ260 CONQUEST CENTERY BRAKES

I can't be sure if there is a cap for the Conquest, the kit I have has a selection of caps as Terry says. I have used it on my V8 250 both clutch and brakes, my SP250 an MGB, Morris Minor and a Mini to list just a few. I do think there is a suitable size as it covers most makes and models of master ...

Re: DJ260 CONQUEST CENTERY BRAKES

Gunsons Eezibleed as has been said a very simple solution to both brake and clutch bleeding, it is an investment mine is twenty years old and has been used and borrowed dozens of times. Not sure how they justify the price but it is a bit of simple but good kit. Halfords and any good motor factor sel...

Re: Ash frame work

John, I did this job on an Austin many years ago and it is a horror, not at all easy. Part time it took me several weeks and not a job I would ever like to tackle again. I had only basic wood working machinery but good metal working tools. Cutting open the frame to remove the old timber then making ...

Re: DB18 Carburettor Flooding

Hi Trevor. I may be barking up the wrong tree but I had the same problem with my SP250. It stood for a year during some family problems, I started it every few months and the float valves stuck, when I stripped the carbs down both valves were sticking because there was a sort of soft corrosion on th...

Re: SP250 and ELS24 for sale

Couple of interesting cars, not sure about the colour of the ELS which is claimed to be rare, no doubt, if our expert in the west was still contributing he would have something interesting to add. It would look so good in black over silver with silver wheels. Here is the link https://www.historics.c...

Re: fuel sender unit

David, It does not matter what make of gauge you have the sender unit will work with any. As far as I know it is very similar for almost all makes of gauge. Similar sender units were used in many 1930's UK cars and similar units to the Lanchester and early sister model Daimlers can be found in the e...
