Re: SP 250 Rev Counter

Beat, Mechanical rev counter with a matching distributor for an SP250 will not be easy to find, quite a few SP's have been fitted with saloon engines so there is a demand against which any original SP that comes up for sale no matter how bad is unlikely to be broken up, most barn finds are very like...

Re: USE EMAIL NOT PM, to communicate with another member

Very good point John, just to demonstrate the validity, prompted by your post I logged on and there at the top of the page was a PM which I had not spotted. When I opened it I found it was sent to me in October last year. (my apologies to George) The PM notification is small and in a place which doe...

Re: Battery relocation

Love it Stan and it does work. Mrs S has a petrol A class Mercedes which is 12 years old, its original battery which is away from the engine under the driver seat is still working fine. Those old car designers knew a thing or two about battery positioning. For what it is worth, I would never put a b...

Re: Conquest Century cylinder head corrosion (waterway inserts)

Henry, I am no expert on this subject but if you Google the subject it says as follows :- There are three conditions that must exist for galvanic corrosion to occur. First there must be two electrochemically dissimilar metals present. Second, there must be an electrically conductive path between the...

Re: To live in Britain in the '50's and '60's

Stan, Like so many in my age group I love to look back, thing were very different and though it was tough by modern standards I never felt hard done by. Bathing once a week seemed normal because that was what every one did, I don't remember body odour being a problem, we just washed ourselves down w...

Re: SP Handbrake draught excluder

Tim The frame I suspect they are referring to was a chrome surround which fixed the leather draft excluder to the inner floor of the car. Don't have picture and both of my manuals are in the garage at present, but I am sure some one will have the detail for you. Syd

Re: Multiport Electronic Fuel injection.

Kieran Sorry I cant help with a car as I live in Wales, just to say there has been lots on this before on the forum. If you use the search facility at the top left of the front page and put in fuel injection, you will see it has been discussed in depth in the past. Some have already converted engine...

Re: Re building an engine

I have a V8 250 manual fitted with a Russ Carpenter engine and an SP250 with an ageing original engine. The SP leaked oil all over the place when I got it and I have cured all the top end leaks, however the front and rear oil seals on the crank leak and is a pain, the V8 however is bone dry. If and ...
