Re: 15 - Differential strip.

Rob, when it comes to a diff, if it ain't broke don't try and fix it, rinse it out well fill with the correct oil and leave well alone until it tells you otherwise. Been lots of discussions on here about which oil to use with the diff you have, put in the wrong oil and it will destroy the bronze. Syd

Re: SP and DB18 at Brightwells 4th Sept

Your talking Brightwells here Graham, a smart young chap in a grey suit will visit and assess and take pictures of the car, sit in your lounge and chat, agree a value then write something entirely different in the catalogue. I agree, white in my estimation is a complete no no, except of course if yo...

Re: LD10 Above market Value ??

Rob, our friends from the north have a saying "there is none as queer as folks" pre war car prices prove that is very true, but it does not stop there. This morning in a supermarket a large tin of salmon was £2.70 on offer, the same brand same quality small one, not on offer was £2.90. A lady in fro...

Re: A warning for all pre war owners.....

Hmm, we are getting way off topic here and going back to Jed's point, I had a Morris 8 years ago that suffered the same issue, the rubber around the main cable perished inside the flexible conduit covering and became sort of crystallised, when wet it was mildly conductive and smouldered, in the end ...

Re: Wiper motor brushes

As nick says they usually come straight Rob.

I have always used a very fine half round file of a similar radius to the com the roughly shape the ends, my thinking is it is a bit kinder on the com. Syd
P.S. Never did know why emery will not do.

Re: Overheating

I think Richards contribution is as good as it gets but I also agree with John. When I got my SP it was fitted with R&P steering and there was an electric fan in front of the rad with a switch tucked under the dash. I have become used to the eccentricities of the set up, the fan is run off permanent...

Re: Brake Drums

Hi Chris, this is not uncommon with Lockheed brakes and Simon has outlined the most common problems. I have found that as you try to fit the drum, the brake shoe tips ever so slightly toward the back plate preventing the drum from slipping on. The old solution was to grind a chamfer on the outer edg...

Re: conquest chassis lubrication

Bryan, I wish. The self lubricating system is all there on my 15 but a previous owner or garage has decimated it, they chopped off the feed pipes and left them hanging near the shackles and fitted grease nipples. I have no way of knowing how long ago that was but all bar two of the shackle pin units...
