Re: 1951 LD10 KKV 222

It's great to hear about progress, one thing I would suggest is a set of BSF/BSW spanners and sockets so you have the correct sizes and don't have to resort to an adjustable. I bought them for quite reasonable prices online/local ironmongers. A tip I read was to buy impact sockets (this was after bu...

Re: Brakes on a Conquest DJ252

The DB18 saloon has rods and cables with no hydraulics. They actually work quite well if adjusted correctly, they are however light years away from anything modern for pedal pressure.

Re: DB18 Torque Values

Thanks again for the input of all, and a little bit of controversy to boot. I can confidently state that my 1950 DB18/2 rear wheel bolts are 5/8" BSF and the correct socket is 9/16" Whitworth (BSF equivalent isn't stated on the socket). I checked the undoing torque on the bolts I had done up by hand...

Re: fuel pump

I concur, I rebuilt my DB18/2 pump from an EBAY purchased kit and also gave it a good clean out at the same time. It solved the problem and runs beautifully. Just make sure the valves are put in the correct way around.

Re: DB18 Torque Values

Firstly thank you to everyone for your replies. In reviewing what the feedback is i either have 5/8" BSF or BSW (the car is social distancing so can't walk out and check it) and this looks like either 64 of 66 ftlbs according to Jag Lovers, which in metric is 90 Nm which is a bit less than the the b...

Re: Daimler V8-250 reg YPK 440H

I discovered a Cooper S head on an 1100 Clubman, it went well but also I discovered had very slight marks where the valves had kissed the block. Still have the head but not the car.

DB18 Torque Values

Does anyone have a list of torque values for the DB18. I'm mostly interested in wheel nut value as I've changed a wheel. I've tried the usual sources David Beale manual, DB18.org and this website but nothing has come to light.
Any help gratefully received.

Re: DB18 Spark Plugs

I wonder if anyone has found a modern air filter that could be hidden inside the air silencer, thus providing good filtration without altering the flow significantly and helping with engine life. I must admit I was surprised that there was not any type of gauze or similar when I cleaned mine out. Sl...

Re: DB18 Spark Plugs

Is it possible it's running too rich? I had a problem with the float bowl being perforated and overflowing but this also meant excess fuel in the carburettor. Also number 3 cylinder is closest to the carburettor and would likely show the problem first as less distance for the fuel to travel. Maybe t...
