Re: Engine vibration
Worth checking engine and gearbox mounts. They will deteriorate with age and oil contamination. They can also debond which might not be obvious as they will be in compression statically but will go through a load cycle when running. Although a different setup, changing the gearbox mount made a big d...

Re: Daimler Sovereign 2 carburetter needles
Richard I agree. I tend to do these things out of normal working hours so using the website should means its easier for them to check and answer. A follow-up call was very helpful, although the part numbers they stated didn't show up on the website. However I've now found out its an M4 thread so man...

Re: Daimler Sovereign 2 carburetter needles
Richard I sent Burlen a message last night but no response yet, which is a bit frustrating. Needles being ordered. I don't remember the old website but don't recall it being so difficult to use. Often progress is not actually that. Mark, I'm sure Burlen will be able to assist with the thread size on...

Re: Daimler Sovereign 2 carburetor needles
The first one was a complete pain despite boiling first and a bent needle was the outcome. The second one came out with relatively little effort after a little boiling and pull with pliers wrapped in rubber. Thank you. The frustrating bit is they were the correct needles. Lesson learned Hi Rach Than...

Re: Daimler Sovereign 2 carburetor needles
Hi Rach Thanks for this. The needles rotate easily in the piston but just won't come out. I'm trying not to have to replace needles as potentially they'll be only used for a limited period but looks likely if i cant free with the boiling water trick. In your experience do the jets wear as well? I'll...

Re: Daimler Sovereign 2 carburetor needles
Thanks Richard, that's very comprehensive. I did the usual checks on plugs, dwell, static timing and dynamic before starting on the carbs. The car is fitted with an AED and these can be notorious for causing issues, however i am giving it the benefit of the doubt as the car starts easily and on remo...

Daimler Sovereign 2 carburetter needles
Some help please on removing the main needle from an SU HIF7. I'm in the process of stripping, cleaning and rebuilding to cure very rich mixture and sooty plugs. I've removed the screw that retains them but they are stuck fast and plus gas isn't working. Want to remove them to check needle type as s...
