Re: A warning for all pre war owners.....

I seem to remember something about anodes and cathodes but the detail is lost in the mists of time!

Re: Wiper motor brushes

I was told that the carborundum from the emery embeds itself in the copper and then wears the brushes out. Although like you I have in desperation when nothing else has been available used emery. A good clean and blow out afterwards and there have never been any ill effects. Nick

Re: Wiper motor brushes

I think that you will find that nearly all brushes (except very big ones) are supplied with a flat end. They very soon bed in, or you could put a slight curve on the working end with a piece of very fine sand paper, NOT emery. I must have fitted 100's of brushes to DC equipment over the years and I'...

Re: Consort Front Bumper Brackets

Thank you for the picture David. It makes a whole lot more sense with all the wings etc out of the way. Unfortunately I am attempting this repair with the wings on. I don't have the space or inclination to strip all the front end off. I'll take pictures as I go along and post them later (or when I'v...

Re: Consort Front Bumper Brackets

Thank you Marcel. I've cut some metal reasonably to size, when I have trimmed them properly I'll make some holes to put the bolts through. I would rather not weld the bolts in anyway, makes refitting the bumper brackets a bit more flexible in case of errors!

Thanks again, regards Nick

Consort Front Bumper Brackets

Could I assume that the bolts that hold the front bumper brackets to the box like extension to the chassis are welded to the inside of the "box"? As I think is common with Consorts the bottom the "boxes" on mine are in very poor condition. In fact the left hand one is missing and the right hand alth...

Re: fan belt tension

I think I have a belt somewhere with the original number on it, I'll try and find it and post the number on here. I seem to remember they are quite a wide section.

Re: fan belt tension

How much movement have you got on the longest run of the belt? If it's more than 1/2 to 3/4 inch that' s too much and the belt is too long.
