I have installed a electronic ignition module for maintenance and reliability, and have found using a vacuum gauge to set the timing works the best for me. Bring the motor up to around 2000rpm, advance the ignition until the gauge just fluctuates, back it off until steady and lock it up

I would suggest checking the fuel line pressure as the SU carburettor require very little pressure.
The “flooding” will happen if the pressure is too high.

I fitted the Craig Davis electric fan with two fans around 4 years ago, I manually switch the “ second” fan which I activate prior to stop start in heavy traffic or mountain climbing. Hi , l used the same conversion kit, bell housing etc.
I fitted a pressure plate from a series 2 Jag, the bolt holes line up, however the original 3 alignment pins in the flywheel need realigning as the plate has only two.

I can't find the dwell angle setting the ignition points for the 2.5 ltr v8 , can anyone assist?
