Re: Lubrication of wiper linkage

Thank you Ivor. Having read about that Shell product and other greases, it does seem to be a very good product, and very suitable. I had been thinking in terms of a thinner grease but I now think that one (NLGI 2) seams about right.. I now lean towards a lithium moly grease of the same grade which m...

Re: Whiskers

Thank you John, that is useful and encouraging. Yes, I have seen the slight difference between the “colours” of stainless and chrome. I have a stainless grille and V motif to fit and have decided that I can live with it. On the plus side, I feel that stainless can achieve a luxuriously finished look...

Lubrication of wiper linkage

I am about to clean, re-lubricate and refit my rack-in-bundy tube wiper linkage. The interface (shear) surface area between the rack and the tube is considerable. It seems to be inviting trouble from the poor wiper motor if the oil or grease is too viscous. Especially if it thickens up with age - ou...

Whiskers

I am planning to fit whiskers to my SP250. I would be grateful if someone could let be know whether they are handed (ie different), or the same on both sides. I have established that I can get stainless steel ones made, provided that I can obtain or borrow one to be used as a pattern (which I am ass...

Re: Body removal

Thank you, gentlemen - that will help me too.
About what weight would you anticipate for a C spec body only with all attachments removed?

Re: Remote Oil filter

Simon Thank you for your reply which I found helpful in so many ways. I have found Flexolite delightful to communicate and deal with over many years, and had noticed the major change to their website with the change of ownership. I have yet to determine how much their product range has been revised....

Re: Remote Oil filter

Simon. I too find your very clear photographs helpful. Thank you. I had begun preparations for a similar installation, but without the oil cooler, or your pre-oiler (which I am curious to know more about). I have been planning to install my filter a little higher than yours (to optimise access for f...

Re: Ceramic Coating Exhaust Manifolds

I thank you all for sharing your very helpful range of real world experiences. I am not aware of having had any problems caused by high under-bonnet temperatures, except for occasional high temperatures in the driver’s seat, but appreciate that cooler is better. The determination of cast iron exhaus...

Re: which engine crane

Thank you Nick, Tim and Paul. Sorry about taking so long to reply; under great family pressure to move house, and no-one seems to want to buy our present one until some jobs have been done... When refitting the engine/gearbox/overdrive/clutch combined, I suspect that the obstruction that may trouble...
