Re: V8-250 Saloon: Spark Plug Tubes - Thread Size

Not sure of the actual thread size but I am pretty sure the oil filler tube lock nut, 1 5/8" AF, is the same so perhaps "borrow" that one, get another and use the two of them locked together and apply spanner to lower nut and out they come.....maybe!!

Re: Removal of float arm from SP250 petrol tank sender.

Rob. Be assured your tank sender will not explode! The sender units are reasonably well sealed and do not require any more sealant or gaskets. Yes petrol vapour will get in but the casing acts in the same principle as a Davey Lamp used in mining - there is no direct contact with the surrounding vap...

Re: Removal of float arm from SP250 petrol tank sender.

This is what it looks like from the other side, the internals. Perhaps that brass hex nut the other side of the pin can be loosend, pin and arm removed for much better access to the crimped surfaces. On a completely different note but staying with the sender unit if I may?................ I am reach...

Re: Removal of float arm from SP250 petrol tank sender.

This is what mine looks like, as already mentioned unless really necessary I would leave alone. If it really needs to be removed it may be necessary to somehow file/grind away the crimps from one side and slide off. To refit apply fuel proof adhesive and secure with lightweight (plastic?) bush and s...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Locking the Rocker Gear

May I temporarily go off topic and hijack this thread just for a moment? I will anyway:) The picture seems to show some rework on the block around the waterways. Is that a cavitation repair? Has "JP Weld" or similar been applied and ground down carefully with wet and dry wrapped around flat steel bl...

Re: Tappet block cover removal

John, here is a link to the topic I mentioned, some sound advice there worth observing :http://forum.dloc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=4122 Russ, some good tips there, thank you, of course the seal to timing cover, could not see that for looking as they say! Seems like I'm asking for trouble if I remo...

Tappet block cover removal

Hello all, I have removed the cylinder heads on my saloon and sent them off to Andrew Carpenter to be attended to. As always plenty of other work to be done while awaiting their return, I thought it a must to remove the tappet chest / block cover at this point to take a look in there, remove old oil...

Re: Rocker shaft spring/washer assembly

Thanks to all for your contributions. Richard : Yes 48 required only 47 correct ones present plus that too large copper one I have shown, somebody obviously lost one last time. Russ : Very kind of you, maybe Andrew can place one with the heads for me when I perhaps can pick them up if ready at the e...

Re: Rocker shaft spring/washer assembly

Thank you Nick, very helpful, I didn't think it should look like this in the picture below!
Now, where can I get a replacement washer from? I doubt my local ironmonger has one.
