Re: Lenses and bulbs
It has to do with the way LED lights work and the light frequency they work at, a white LED behind a red lens can produce a pink light hence using a red LED bulb behind to enhance the red. It works on the same principal as you can purchase a white LED tube light to replace your fluorescent tube in t...

Re: Needle and seat passing
Some time ago I had a problem with my V twin bike leaking from the left hand carb, I stripped cleaned the float, jet etc. but it still leaked so had a word with a Del O'rto specialist who asked a simple question "have you checked for a blocked vent? because the float chambers work at atmospheri...

Re: Gudgeon pin removal SP 250
Hi Paul, I have used a hot air gun in the past or a hair drier may work just warm the piston uniformly, the crown and pin bosses will take longer to warm due to the mass they should slide out smoothly with little resistance, support the piston and rod well as you don't want to distort either and not...

Re: SU solid state fuel pump on Dart
Hi Terry, Just a quick two pennys worth. I had a problem with a pair of Del O'rto carbs where on of the breather/vent hole was blocked and that caused the one carb to flood and leak, so just an idea to check the breather is clear as carbs need to operate at atmospheric pressure. regards john

Re: Ignition Switch Problem?
Hi Tim,
I'm with Cameron on this, it's a fault with the solenoid, may be the primary winding isn't allowing the h/d switch side to engage but when manually activated.. hey presto. so I would try another solenoid after checking and trying the connections.

Re: Engine work needed
Hi, there are modified valve guides which take valve stem seals (from a BMC 1800 -KG846 Payen ref. from memory but I'd have to check and confirm) which work well, available from J&E eng. F W Thornton, Gosnays Eng. and D.Manners to name a few. The seal is it a hard black rubber like liquorice? if...
