Re: Gaz Front Shock Absorber Settings (C20989GAZ)

Hi Darren Just a few months ago I fitted these to my SP. I followed their advice and zero'd them, turning the adjusting knob 12 notches. This was almost right but a little jiggly so ultimately turned them back 2 notches. Am very happy with my choice and their performance. However a word of warning!!...

Re: 1962 Daimler SP250 - Oregon, USA

To my eye the spring pans looks as though they are rusted through.
There are at least 2 mounts left for the shocks so the observation of no shocks is incorrect.

Re: 1962 Daimler SP250 - Oregon, USA

Just another observation; both front spring pans would appear to have rust holes with mounting parts for the shocks missing.
Otherwise a good looking car.

Re: Push rod difference

Hi Ozz Interesting!!! A smaller o/d I don't think can be attributable to wear & tear!!!! Many many years ago I came accross this wear factor of the socket ends so I purchased a full set of push rods from a breaker simply to have as spares. Just hunted them out and measured the o/d of all 32 ends...

Re: Push rod difference

Greetings The cups on the pushrods are as far as I know identical both ends and both for inlet/exhaust. I think the difference that you have picked up is simply wear. This can be induced by poor/lack of servicing the engine over it's life. I believe if left unchecked it can result in the cups wearin...

Re: SP250 Holley Carburettor

Greetings Why do you wish to change your carbies? I do remember many years ago articles here about changing and using a Carter or Weber carby. The size was calculated as 350 cubic inches per minute by a certain formula (forgoten!!) There used to be an adaptor plate available from speed shops to use ...

Re: SP250 Brake Pedal Travel

Greetings This has been a topic that over the years has received a lot of comment and query. It cannot be entirely eliminated but the situation can be alliviated to a large degree. Yes as suggested the problem lies in the wheel bearings adjustment. Usually with these you tighten the bearings up unti...

Re: Overdrive problem

The g/box in the SP is Triumph TR2-3 based and engine oil is the correct oil for this combination.
I am not sure what g/box is in the 2 1/2 litre saloon, the Moss box or the new all synchro box? My comments on the Jaguar box relate to the Moss box.
Would suggest refer the car's manual.

Re: Overdrive problem

Hi Rob I have fitted an A type o/d to my SP from Jag Mk 2. The very knowledgeable breaker from whom I purchased it advised to use engine oil as the heavy EP oils do not flow due to lack of viscosity (both cold & hot). This can cause clutch drag and the clutch to actually to wear. He showed me on...
