Re: Push rod difference
Hi Ozz Interesting!!! A smaller o/d I don't think can be attributable to wear & tear!!!! Many many years ago I came accross this wear factor of the socket ends so I purchased a full set of push rods from a breaker simply to have as spares. Just hunted them out and measured the o/d of all 32 ends...

Re: Push rod difference
Greetings The cups on the pushrods are as far as I know identical both ends and both for inlet/exhaust. I think the difference that you have picked up is simply wear. This can be induced by poor/lack of servicing the engine over it's life. I believe if left unchecked it can result in the cups wearin...

Re: SP250 Holley Carburettor
Greetings Why do you wish to change your carbies? I do remember many years ago articles here about changing and using a Carter or Weber carby. The size was calculated as 350 cubic inches per minute by a certain formula (forgoten!!) There used to be an adaptor plate available from speed shops to use ...

Re: SP250 Brake Pedal Travel
Greetings This has been a topic that over the years has received a lot of comment and query. It cannot be entirely eliminated but the situation can be alliviated to a large degree. Yes as suggested the problem lies in the wheel bearings adjustment. Usually with these you tighten the bearings up unti...

Re: Overdrive problem
The g/box in the SP is Triumph TR2-3 based and engine oil is the correct oil for this combination.
I am not sure what g/box is in the 2 1/2 litre saloon, the Moss box or the new all synchro box? My comments on the Jaguar box relate to the Moss box.
Would suggest refer the car's manual.

Re: Overdrive problem
Hi Rob I have fitted an A type o/d to my SP from Jag Mk 2. The very knowledgeable breaker from whom I purchased it advised to use engine oil as the heavy EP oils do not flow due to lack of viscosity (both cold & hot). This can cause clutch drag and the clutch to actually to wear. He showed me on...

Re: positive earth alterntor
As an adjunct to tjt77 post I have upgraded my car to an alternator. Surprisingly it was cheapest to go with a Chinese copy (and I mean an exact copy) of an 85 amp Bosch unit. Did not like the idea if something went wrong of a full 85 amps going thru an inflammable body!! so installed an inline fuse...

Peter
11 & 14 thou for a cold engine, 12 thou for hot. Would suggest do engine cold as you can take your time and do not have to worry about diminishing metal temperature to be 100% accurate. If doing in situ can be a longish task to complete too.

Re: Dart Seat reclining brackets
Dear Dave, The first owner of my car solved the lack of room and seating by simply cutting off the round frame to which the runners are attached and welding flat strip to stub and bolting this direct to floor. Quite comfortable if you had log legs!!!! Those height challenged amongst us not so good. ...
