Re: V8 250 Brakes binding.

Hi David, My immediate reaction to your problem was that the pads were jaming in the calibers when they were hot. In the days when we used our car daily and I maintained it, I always checked that new pads were a loose fit in the calibers when cold to allow for expansion when braking. I have not expe...

Re: What oils/grease to use

Thanks Richard for your prompt and positive response. As I always go directly to Forum I was not aware of all the information you have put in on the V8 Saloon. This does raise the question of where to put the information so that users will know of its existance and easliy find it as many others may ...

Re: What oils/grease to use

This correspondence prompts me to make a suggestion I have been thinking about for some time. It would be very useful to have on the website a permanent place where advice of this type could be held for the use of the general V8 owner like me, who gets stuff at Halfords and uses the car relatively l...

Re: Saloon springs and dampers

The subject of car height and why one side is higher than the other has come up a number of times in the past. See page 44 Nov 17 2016 and page 23 Oct 31 2018 on the present website for examples. All totally inconclusive so far as I can see!!.

Re: Appropriate rear badging for '69 250

I can't comment on the thin bumper, but I was told long ago that the 'D' in the middle of the thick bumper could be removed and a toeball fitted. I have never tried it!

Re: Tubed or Tubless

The original handbook which came with my 1964 saloon states the cars were fitted with 6.00/6.40 x 15 Road Speed tyres. The workshop Service Manual states that Dunlop Road Speed R.S.5 tyres ( with tubes), size 6.40/15, were fitted to both pressed steel disc and wire spoke wheels. It also states that ...

Re: Seats & Headlining

Bob, You seats don’t look that bad to me. Looking at your photograph of the driver seat the damage at the centre may be because springs are broken underneath. I have this problem and would like to know whether there is any way of replacing a few springs or whether the complete spring system can be b...

Re: Painting of engine bay

My car has original paint and is body colour from top to bottom. However it is not smooth and does have a gritty texture.

Re: How many of your cars are roadworthy?

I had one V8 Saloon which is roadworthy, but not used nearly enough.
