Re: Engine ‘lumpy’ when cruising above 1500rpm
Thank you all again for your help. Here is an update with a happy'ish ending. As saying goes, most carb faults are electrical SO. I have a Viper 3ohm coil, the spark although OK it has never been strong as I would have liked. The Distributor Doctor is only a 15 min drive from me so I went in and tal...

Re: Engine ‘lumpy’ when cruising above 1500rpm
Again Thanks for all the sugestions. Ian, I have checked float level and set to 11mm. Changed float needles. Both the dashpots and valves run up and down perfectly, no tight spots. Ivor, No poppets valves in butterflys. Bill, The air filters are standard type. I have also tried with no air filters w...

Re: Engine ‘lumpy’ when cruising above 1500rpm
Thanks for all the suggestions. Changed capacitor, checked the vac advance (with and without) all working correctly. Changed coil, run without air filters to check piston lift, run without oil dampers, re-tuned carbs to various settings more times than I care to think. Checked Piston and dashpot for...

Re: Engine ‘lumpy’ when cruising above 1500rpm
Thanks for reply. I have done all of the things you suggest including monitoring the fuel line pressure. It is driving me mad. I believe it must be an air leak from somewhere but I cannot trace it in normal manner (using petrol, butain jet and brake cleaner - note to anyone not used to doing this be...

Re: Engine ‘lumpy’ when cruising above 1500rpm
Thanks Nick, The car had sat for some 10 months due to my ill health. Before I tried to start it I drained the fuel and replaced with fresh non-ethanol fuel (Esso Synergy Supreme +99 which is ethanol free until September - see their website). Cleaned the float chambers, needles and main jet. Checked...

Re: Engine ‘lumpy’ when cruising above 1500rpm
Sorry should have said it is a SP250. It is not a vibration it is actually jerky at a steady speed, like a electrical misfire but its not a misfire as if you accelerate even slightly the engine picks up and runs fine, until you cruise again. It does seem as if it goes lean on cruise. CO meter backs ...

Engine ‘lumpy’ when cruising above 1500rpm
Hi, Engine starts fine. Idles well, Revs freely but when under light load (cruising) around 1500 rpm or above it runs lumpy as if running lean. Engine pulls like a dream if throttle applied, no misfire or lumpy running. Checked CO at idle 2.5% /3% if rpm raised to 1500 CO drops to 0.5% / 0.3 engine ...

Re: SP250 Halfshaft tube oil leak
Thanks Nick for your reply. I assume if the breather is blocked you are saying pressure could build and push oil out of joint? As the axle was shot blasted, painted etc it is a distinct possibilty it has been blocked. I also assume that the plug welds are visable and it was not welded from inside? I...

SP250 Halfshaft tube oil leak
Well my SP250 is on the road after a 3 year full rebuild. Done around 200 miles and so far very pleased. I do have one problem. I have noticed a small oil leak from the joint between the offside halfshaft axle tube and the diff housing. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what is the cure or is ...
