Re: Clutch pressure 480 psi
Hi Dennis and Steve, Please clarify for me, is the 480psi figure the pressure in the hydraulic system? The driver experiences clutch release pressure as effort on the clutch pedal, and changes to the master cylinder bore affect this directly. Dennis, did you obtain the 480psi figure in the hydraulic...

I had exactly the same result with a 'tin can' that I bought from David Manners. Whoever manufactures them needs to find out with what Girling painted the originals.

Re: Cooling fan questions
Hi Josh,
I can only offer two comments: 1) If you want the right parts, go to Barry Thorne, and 2) the fan assemblies were balanced at the factory; in my example there is a rivet added to the end of one of the blades, and there is no vibration.

Re: Paint code
Hi Al, Congratulations on the superb result you obtained! However, your use of 'Rustroy', followed by the two-pack high build primer will have sealed the steel of your car's bodywork. Thus the water-absorbtion of the cellulose topcoats is isolated from the steel, thank goodness. I stand corrected: c...

Re: Paint code
Hi Martin and everyone with steel cars, In the dry climate of California, the use of cellulose paints can be acceptable, BUT in the wet climate of UK it is NOT! If you are old enough, you will remember that new steel cars started showing rust before they were 5 years old; this was because the makers...

Re: SP250 listed for sale in USA
Hi Geoff, Yes, the A-spec bonnets and boot lids (hood and trunk in North America) originally only had a cross-bracing on the underside. This was found not to give enough stiffness and the reinforcement was changed, on B- and C-spec bodies, to a raised hollow section around the perimeter on the under...

Re: SP 250 clutch conversion
Yes Jim, That is correct, the A-H release bearing is identical to the SP250 original, except for the thicker carbon ring. A straight swap, unless you want to change to a ball race. I can't help on that, as the A-H carbon release bearing fitted to my car in 2011 is still doing fine. Please let me kno...

Re: SP 250 clutch conversion
Hi Jim, It is essential that you must use the carbon release thrust bearing that comes in the kit. The diaphragm spring pressure plate is shallower than the original coil spring type, and the carbon thrust bearing that comes with it is thicker by the right amount to fill the gap. The 9.5" centr...
