Re: 1966 Daimler V8 2.5 - Fitting Wire Wheels

Hi, A while back I looked into putting wires on my SP250 here in Australia. At the time it had the steel rims and wires would have resulted in hub changes or adaptors that would have rendered the steel rims obsolete. I really wanted to have the option of having both, (pull off put on as a quick chan...

Re: SP vibration

Unfortunately Ivor we are now past that point but your suggestion taken. I will give a little scream if the vibration is there after the freshen up. The engine has now been stripped and shows signs of needing a rebuild if not now but in the near future and we are doing the clutch at the same time. A...

Re: SP vibration

Hi Ivor, When investigated one mount was very soft the other had cracked. No point replacing bad stuff.Maybe the position of the gear box with the weak mounts had always been disguising the vibration. I know that sounds weird but all other avenues have been investigated so only thing left is the reb...

Re: SP vibration

Thank you one and all for all the great thoughts. After exploring all options with no success it has now been decided to do a full engine rebuild. A bit of a shock at first but it had been something on my mind for sometime in the future..... just advanced a bit now. If the vibration is still there a...

Re: SP vibration

Hi All, Apart from the fact the the drive shaft was off center because of the broken gearbox mount causing the shaft to just be hitting the tunnel when rotating , apart from that the car was running fine and not vibrating when delivered to the mechanic. Both the mounts were replaced with correct one...
