Syd , go away sir !!, splitting alloy indeed.
Went through Barretts catalog to no avail so looked at landrovers for a laugh . --- as well as the dash switch decals being series 2 i can now say that the five way is also the same as .

Hi all, may sound silly , but have you tried going back to the points setup to eliminate the electronics . The initial problem may have been an accumulation of defects . The mech. advance has been looked at and corrected as necessary i'm assuming .Drive dogs and springs corrected ? All advance check...

Re shorting Rotor Arm . Simply hold the coil lead ( out of the cap ) to just above the rotor . flick engine and if the unit is faulty it will arc to earth through the Rotor.

Ah, that may have prompted my confusion -- Big head ( 13/16" ) socket size -- 3/4" being the normal for 1/2"thread.
Clearing out the workshop in prep for the blue printing of the big engine . and a gearbox rebuild before a body arrives on Sat for fettlin prior to paintshop delivery

look at the size of that bolt head. True steam engine sizing. (probably left over from the War. )

Have seen all manner of threads there , Memory says 1/2" bsf ( could be wrong here though )

The Green example is my first SP ( 1970 ) As Bill says , rebuilt with many mods to stiffen the chassis and give better turn in some years ago. Simons car is as detailed underneath as it is above.
