Re: DAIMLERS AND THE FIRES IN AUSTRALIA

Hi everyone, Back in Australia. The fires have been bad, and continue to threaten to flare up but fingers crossed some rain is expected in the eastern states and this should greatly help reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires. There is also widespread clearing of fire trails and containment lines to ...

Re: Float chamber tickler

There you go, I've learned something.

I had always just primed using the pump lever (on the DE: the Special Sports has an electronic fuel pump).

Now I know that a tickle and a pump administered simultaneously will give better results!

Re: DAIMLERS AND THE FIRES IN AUSTRALIA

Hi Al, I am away at the moment but I am getting daily updates from a property belonging to my employer in the Blue Mountains at Laura and while there is no immediate danger the ferocity and extent of the fires have been the worst I can remember. Some staff members at the hotel in Laura have been eva...

Re: Special Sports fuel issue

Hi Michael,
I’m stumped.
It isn’t the coil is it?
My DE would stall after a run if the revs dropped and it was the coil which got hot and I couldn’t start the car until the coil cooled down.
That is my first thought, for what it is worth.
Cheers

Re: DE36 Allweather on Wedding Dutiy

Hi Graham, No, I learnt my lesson taking it to Dubbo. Ended up going home on a tilt tray when the vibration damper fell apart (again). While we have reglued it using a more flexible glue I would hate to end up on the back of a truck yet again! One of our other members Victor Nash has asked to share ...

DE36 Allweather on Wedding Dutiy

Hi Everyone, Last week end I was asked to drive the bride and her father to a wedding locally. As they then embarked on a mammoth photo session at a nearby home I was able to go home for a few hours before returning to collet the bride and groom for the trip to the wedding reception. For the bride i...

Re: Db18 special sports

Hi Marcus, I don't have any such spares, and i don't believe that the NSW Club has any either. We do have quite a few smaller items, but the cost of shipping may be prohibitive. One Victorian estate recently sold two cars advertised as being able to be made into one and the buyer then on sold the sp...

Re: The preselector (Wilson) gearbox

Hi Stefan, i think Pete Lang's response is correct. As long as the revs are set correctly so that they are quite low at idle driving the car like an automatic is fine. You can pull away from a stop in top gear but it will be very slow. The car manuals all had a section on how to drive the cars. if y...

Re: The preselector (Wilson) gearbox

Hi Stefan, If you are driving a Daimler with pres elect transmission in traffic and must come to a sudden stop you just press firmly on the brake pedal and the car will stop. If you are still in gear and release the brake the car will start to move forwards. While the manual tells you that it is fin...

Re: The preselector (Wilson) gerabox

Dear Stefan-Daniel, I have owned a number of Daimlers with the pre-select gearbox and fluid flywheel and can honestly say that they are very easy and good to drive in the modern traffic. Of course, being older cars and quite heavy they are not as light to steer or easy to stop as a modern car but as...
