Re: Transmission noise in Conquest Century / Oil query

Okay, let’s go to the Owner’s Handbook and get the right information out there. The Handbook specifies that the engine, fluid flywheel and pre selector gearbox all use a 10/30 viscosity index engine oil. There are types for various manufacturers but they are probably obsolete now. The fluid flywheel...

Re: Oil level in fluid flywheel.

Hi Frank, To fill the fluid flywheel on my cars I use a small plastic watering can with a long spout as a reservoir, and pour straight 30 grade oil into that. After removing the filler plug (and please be careful as I understand that if it drops between the flywheel and the gearbox it is an engine o...

Re: Special Sports Australia

Hi Everyone, Given the very favourable exchange rate as pointed out by Syd, and the fact that this car, apart form being in amazingly fine condition now, spent its life in a dry and warm climate away from salted roads, this must be a very good deal for you. I have driven this car, and it is just won...

Re: spare tyre

Hi Thomas, Here a number of Special Sports owners have used Coker Vintage radial 600 x 16 inch tyres and they will not only fit in that model's spare wheel compartment but transforms the road handling of the car. Maybe someone has a used tyre like that you could use as a get me home spare, otherwise...

Re: Basics engine help!

Hi Eric, THis sounds like it could be a long process. Whenever my Special Sports has behaved like yours it has been a fuel issue. I have an inline fuel filter between the fuel pump and the fuel line. Whenever that has been blocked the engine will turn over but not fire. So initially make sure there ...

Re: 1951 DAIMLER DB18 EMPRESS 2.5-LITRE Registration no. RFR 86 Chassis no. 53900

Hi,
When I look at the opening Hohhot on the Bonhams site for the car the front wheel view looks odd. It is as if there is an inner guard missing because you can see right through the wheel arch to the body panel done in cream duco.
Is there a problem or is it my imagination?

Re: Calling all Conquest and Century owners, Carpet retaining rubber strips

Hi, If you look at the photos on the link to the Majestic major advertised for sale in Australia on the forum it appears that the fitting is different in that the rubber strip is rounded rater than a straight edge cut into an angle. Sorry tried to copy and paste the photo but it didn't work Cheers P...

Re: Oil type for steering box

Hi Colin, I have had some success using a soft plastic squeeze sauce dispensing bottle. I patiently fill the wide neck using a spatula and then screw the top on and gently squeeze away. The angle of the filler in the SB is easily reached by the bottle outlet. It is still relatively hard work and ver...
