Re: Barker SS Hood Bag/tonneau

Hi Andy, I would send you photos of mine but it isn't really "correct". I think the original pattern was quite roomy and "tailored" so that the side panels were quite high to give the hood underneath plenty of room and not push it down too much. Mine tends to be a little stretchy...

Re: Daimler Barker Special Sports newly bought.

Marc, I hope that you have bought a good example of the DB18 Special Sports. they are a wonderful touring car, very relaxing to drive with the Overdrive gearbox. For me the only issue is that the car does lose power up hills quite dramatically but that is not such a big deal. My car has probably don...

Re: Daimler DE36 limousine spares or repair

Hi Simon, Th ex Beaverbrook car had a Hooper touring limousine body on it, and I remember seeing it on Great Marques Video and it had the inner lid to the luggage compartment so that could be closed and a trunk or large suitcases carried on the boot lid which hinged from the bottom. Beautiful car. P...

Re: Daimler DE36 limousine spares or repair

Hi Marcus, It may be a big undertaking (no pun intended) but at the end of the day the owner will have an amazing vehicle. Not only the wonderful DE36 rolling chassis but clothed in what is arguably one of the best looking bodies available for it, the Freestone & Webb limousine. We have a DE27 v...

Re: Obsolete parts.

Hi Marcel, Mark Bearman in Western Australia is undertaking some rubber pat manufacturing especially for the DE range but for example he would like to produce the front quarter light rubbers for the DQ and DR range but has not been able to source patterns for these. Would anyone have these available...

Re: Daimler mascot.

Hi Everyone,
Was it a myth or true that Eagle and Life Insurance, a large shareholder in BSA encouraged the production of this mascot as it resembled the eagle used by the insurance company as its logo?
Cheers

Re: DE27 brake adjustment

Hi Chris, I add my thanks to Paul's. This will be of great help to my mechanic 9I am useless) when the car is taken in for its next major service as I think that the leather cup washer in the servo is not getting oil from the chassis lubrication and may have dried out, reducing vacuum assistance. Ch...

Re: SS/Empress rev couner reduction gearbox

On another note,
If the MGA reduction gear box is fitted, what would be the difference in readings on the rev counter?
We could always make up some neat stickers for the revs, much like some European drives made to convert MPH to KPH on the speedos, no?

Re: SS/Empress rev couner reduction gearbox

Hi David,
That is a good photo suppled so I won't add any.
The idea of recalibrating the rev counter is a good one.
Now all we have to do is find an instrument maker who can help out with that!
Cheers

Re: SS/Empress rev couner reduction gearbox

Hi David,
Sorry can't hep with the correct unit.
Mine disappeared and needs to be replaced and unfortunately the correct reduction gear is unobtainable.
I do have the MGA type one in a box and can photograph what it came with if that is of any help?
Cheers
