Re: Conquest Convertible

I am reliably informed it is a Conquest, and therefore a home conversion.

Re: Conquest Convertible

I'm no expert either, but I am not convinced it's had a home conversion. There are more knowledgeable people around, but the I can't see where the rear doors have gone. Of course it's not the correct hood, but then again it may be the original which was electrically operated might have been too far ...

Re: special sport front brakes

David, sorry I posted on this thread but it's diapered,. There is a girling data sheet, for db18 consort, but it's of limited help. As I understand it you haven't stripped the front brake yet, but can see that only 1 shoe is moving. The front system has a single cylinder which pushes a cone forward ...

Re: Daimler DB18 rod end greaser

Julian, have you asked the supplier of the track rod ends ? Who knows what size or thread has been used.

If all else fails, drill and tap to match the old grease nipples (if they are serviceable).

Re: Special Sports water in the oil ! Again...

Just a couple of additional thoughts,, 1) Did you re-torque the head (cold) after you initial runs ? Im sure this is necessary 2) If you get the head checked and skimmed - get a pressure-test done to make sure its good as well as flat (corrosion round the water points) etc 2) Since you are still get...

Re: Regency MKII DF304

David, I have just had a set of over-riders prepared for chroming for our Special Sports. This is a panel-beating task, involving removing the attachment plate at the back, panel beating to shape, then welding the plates back in. Cost was very modest, and after chroming, all good. So, if they are no...

Re: special sport steering.

So just to confirm, the steering wheel should be positioned like an inverted y. If the steering is central, then turning left or right should be the same degree of turn (from memory its 2 2/3 end to end) If this is good then job done. If not get the steering in the middle, then move the steering whe...

Re: Regency MKII DF304

David, I am not an expert on these cars, but wanted to help anyway. Firstly, are the over-riders missing or in a poor state ? If missing then you need replacements. To me they would be for a fluted bumper, so I'd widen my search by carefully comparing to the 104 and Majestic/Major items - and then w...
