Re: Hooper Empress on eBay

Thanks Henry. Interesting sale. Body looks not too bad, except for the boot, which maybe dropped ?? But, needs correct front bumper, number plate plinth, and 4 over-riders, and rear number plate box. Interior a mess !! Having done the long hours on The Duke a restoration not for the faint hearted. A...

Nick, yes your detail is correct.

Not as rare as you think,,,

Derek has current new glass either type, and one complete new unit red and clear.

Re: DB18 rear light lenses

Hi, I take it this is for a consort ? From memory,,, Whilst they look similar to many cars of the era, they are specific to consort and I think austin sheerline. (They have a single piece of glass, whereas others have either a front glass and a side glass to illuminate the number plate). Try Derek s...

I got Morris oil from our local farm supplies place. Saves paying carriage.

The original metal is quite thick, so welding a replacement may be your best bet.

Re: Daimler DB18 1951 on bumpers - are there two types?

Steve, yours is correct for a Consort. FWIW how bad is it ? The reason I ask is that rear bumpers are hard to find, so you will have to be lucky. ( one reason is that they are basically the same as the Barker Special Sports rear, so causes extra demand) Unless it’s damaged, I’d stick with what you h...

Re: What is this for?

I take it this is the smiths heater And blower that sits on top of the bulkhead ?

It’s a large flexible pipe, about 200 diameter ?

It’s common on lots of British cars. Get a diameter, and then go on line. Think I used MGb.

Re: Daimler DB18 1951 on bumpers - are there two types?

Not sure which is old and new.. However, the one at the back looks like a Consort Rear. Given that they both have “D” badges, then they are probably both rears. It is possible that the nearest one is from a De/Dh 27 or 36. The db18 empress used same bumper, but without the D badge. I suspect the ext...
