Re: 1939 DE27 for sale
Anthony. Think it was a maiden bid if £3k. I had a hood look at it on Saturday. The drivers door has dropped a bit on the hinges. The rear door is a worse, probably over extended. Both could be fixed. Otherwise, body hood, interior good vinyl. Was driven off the trailer into the auction. So, a barga...

Re: 1939 DE27 for sale
Quick update. Had a call from the auctioneer. (Gary Dunne) Car will be driven there today. The history file will be available at the nec, including a letter from the dloc about the cars early history, which will be interesting, mentions a photo with the Royal Navy registration plate, though no photo...

Re: 1939 DE27 for sale
Just a comment about the carb setup.
Mark is right that it looks like it’s missing a carb. Normally the 27 would have two downdraught su carbs, but the Ambulance had an single solex. Could this be the carb Wr see in the pic ?

Re: 1939 DE27 for sale
Just to say I had a reply from Brian Smith.
He had heard of this car, but nothing of its provenance.
He has passed to Peter Ruifrock to see what he knows.
So far , nothing from the Auction House.
Regards
Db

Re: 1939 DE27 for sale
Strange story, but you never know ,,,
I have had a quick look, and cars were shown from 1945.
Eg 51294 is listed as a Hooper body 9223 registered 11/45, sold to Daimler.
Seems a talk story but,,
I’ve emailed the Auctioneers for their material, and emailed to Brian Smith to ask his opinion.
