Re: Importing a car from the USA

Ha ha, although I'm not sure I have entirely given up; I'll be 50 in 2 years time and am thinking of promising myself one as a birthday present. If I get rid of one of the DQs and my Midget I think I could maybe find room on the drive and also convince my wife that getting rid of two cars is worth t...

Re: Importing a car from the USA

Yes, certainly; it is a 1961 Plymouth Belvedere. My interest is purely based on aesthetics and seems to be limited to that year.

Re: Importing a car from the USA

Some very interesting comments, thanks. Fortunately the car that caused the idle speculation is 6 inches longer than my Majestic Majors and 5 inches wider, so there is absolutely no way it would fit on my drive; also my wife would leave me!

Re: Importing a car from the USA

Thanks for the reply. It was merely idle speculation on my part, but I reckoned if the car cost $1000 it would probably cost about five times that getting it to the UK. JB

Importing a car from the USA

A purely hypothetical musing but I was wondering if one bought a classic car off American eBay for about $1000 and wanted to import it to the UK, how would it be achieved and at what sort of cost? Has anyone on here had any experience of such? For arguments sake let's assume such a car was in Arizon...

Re: Pre-Jaguar post-war Daimlers

However I cannot think of many cars contemporary to the MGBGT that look like an MGBGT.

Re: Majestic major cylinder head removal

The couple of times I've done it either the engine was out or the steering column was off; I think it would be very tight.

Re: 4.5 Specs (and parts?)

Lastly, for some reason the scans have listed the wrong way round (the last one is first and the first one last; very biblical) and they are a bit faint, if you can't read any of it let me know and I'll clarify.

Re: 4.5 Specs (and parts?)

Also, as far as I am aware there is no interchangeability between parts for the 2.5 and the 4.5; I have fitted 2.5 spark plug tube seals to one of my Majestic Majors, but they are leaking a bit! The engine was only used on the DQs and DRs (saloon and limo Majestic Majors), they make a fantastic nois...
