Re: Majestic major cylinder head removal

The couple of times I've done it either the engine was out or the steering column was off; I think it would be very tight.

Re: 4.5 Specs (and parts?)

Lastly, for some reason the scans have listed the wrong way round (the last one is first and the first one last; very biblical) and they are a bit faint, if you can't read any of it let me know and I'll clarify.

Re: 4.5 Specs (and parts?)

Also, as far as I am aware there is no interchangeability between parts for the 2.5 and the 4.5; I have fitted 2.5 spark plug tube seals to one of my Majestic Majors, but they are leaking a bit! The engine was only used on the DQs and DRs (saloon and limo Majestic Majors), they make a fantastic nois...

Re: Regency Rear Bumper

Are you sure the stud is fixed to the welded mounting plate? I seem to remember on the Majestic Major, which has a mounting that looks the same as yours, that the stud is in fact a coach bolt and is loose in the welded mounting plate but captive due to the proximity of the main bumper body. It may b...

Re: Float level DMM

Funnily enough, the day I replied to this was the day after I'd received and fitted my new needle valves from Burlen. Having failed to find the clearance figures, I'd just set them so they'd get maximum opening without any danger of them jamming on their return. Following Christopher's post I have r...

Re: Float level DMM

I've never seen one specified. Provided you've got the right float and it's sound (ie not half full of fuel; give it a shake and check it's empty, mine wasn't!) and the float lever and needle valve are all ok, it's self setting. All said parts are common to a number of carbs/vehicles and are readily...

Re: DQ450 condenser

Thanks for the reply Syd. I think it was intermittently shorting - a new wire might give it a second lease of life as a spare -, although it could have been the HT lead to the coil having a bad contact; but the condenser's probably due a change anyway. There were one or two other issues at the same ...
