Re: SP250 residual brake pressure valve and remote servo - brakes binding?

One thing to check is the master cylinder. If there is slight corrosion or dirt just inside the cylinder under the rubber boot or if the pedal clearance is not adjusted correctly, then the piston cannot return back to its rest position thereby blocking the aperture between the cylinder and the fluid...

Re: Advance Weight Springs

No. The long spring is OK. It does not pull the weights together at rest, it controls how far the rotor arm twists when the engine is running.

Re: Five Legged Hydraulic Wheel / Hub Puller

No, it is not a Sykes. There is no name that I can see but I got it from an engineering firm in England, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

It is very similar to the Sykes type ones but a lot cheaper. It does the same job though.

Five Legged Hydraulic Wheel / Hub Puller

I have for sale a five legged hydraulic hub / wheel puller suitable for SP250 and 250 V8 rear hubs. I bought it to remove my SP hubs so it has only been used for one job, therefore in excellent as new condition. Only four legs are used for the SP, they fit onto the wheel studs and are held by the wh...

Re: Removal of float arm from SP250 petrol tank sender.

Rob. Be assured your tank sender will not explode! The sender units are reasonably well sealed and do not require any more sealant or gaskets. Yes petrol vapour will get in but the casing acts in the same principle as a Davey Lamp used in mining - there is no direct contact with the surrounding vapo...

Re: Inlet manifold bolts torque value

Nick's suggestion works well but I would also add that copious amounts of Redex in the fuel tank and take the car for a serious "Italian Tune" will clear a lot of crud out and improve the gas flow!

Re: Removal of float arm from SP250 petrol tank sender.

If I recall it is crimped in to stop it coming out so I would suggest you leave it well alone unless you specifically need it out.

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

Bit of a long shot and probably not your problem but worth checking anyway. On the condenser in the distributor there is an insulated cover that protects the tabs on the flexible and solid wires from touching the base plate when they are bolted to the condenser terminal. If that insulating washer is...

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

When I removed the petrol feed pipe from the tank to carbs on my car there was a basin full of crud lying in the lower part of the pipe. Maybe in yours there is crud which builds up and restricts the pipe as you drive along. if so a blast through in both directions with an airline may clear it out. ...

Re: Exasperated by stuttering SP250... all suggestions welcome!

I know you have changed the coil but have you checked that the low tension leads to the coil are the correct way round?

If they are incorrect you may get the symptoms that you describe, which are indicative of a weak spark.
