Re: Aftermarket Fan Wiring Help Needed

How does the coil wired the wrong way round affect the vaporisation?
It doesn't.
It makes the coil overheat affecting performance and eventual failure.

Re: Aftermarket Fan Wiring Help Needed

Vaporisation might explain why why my dart wont start when really hot.. I always have to wait after filling up with fuel on a good run. I will try the fan on method as my battery has been uprated and I plan on getting a 40amp replacement dynamo upgrade soon. Check to make sure your coil isn't wired...

Re: seized engine, and hoist size

The mistake most people make when trying to free a seized engine is to force it to turn in the normal direction. Try to turn the engine backwards and create a little movement then rock the crank back and forwards. Do not force it to turn full revolutions in either direction until it is really free t...

Re: SP250 Retrofit lap seatbelt

No disrespect but I think I'll put my faith in a direct metal to metal contact with the chassis rather than the very thin fibreglass thickness of an SP inner mudguard which is only a small fraction of the layup typically found in the hulls of Westerly or similar yachts.

Re: SP250 Retrofit lap seatbelt

Should you be worried about the strength of the mounting then clean the wheel arch and then glass in a minimum 2" wide perforated stainless steel 2ft long inside the arch, to be even safer use SP Systems or West Epoxy instead of Styrene resin and add a few lengths of Kevlar strands under the s...

Re: SP250 Retrofit lap seatbelt

I made up my own seat belt fixing kit. The lower two attachment positions are similar to the kits available but I modified the upper wheel arch attachment. The strap is bolted through the top of the wheel arch to a heavy shaped metal strip inside the wheel arch which extends backwards. this is then ...

Re: SP250 Retrofit lap seatbelt

I would respectfully suggest that you give serious consideration before fitting lap belts in your car. The only safe option is to fit belts with proper shoulder/upper body restraining belts to minimise injury. If you use lap belts only you will find that in a moderate bump the dashboard and windscre...

Re: 2.5 V8 Rear Hub Removal

When using a large hub puller to remove the hubs many people make the mistake of whacking the end of the puller screw with a large hammer. All you will do is wreck the bearing cages as the bearing will be taking the full force of the hammer blows, and bearings do not like being twatted with a large ...

Re: Radiator removal

I'm afraid you are going to have to cut the bodywork to remove the captive nut. If you are in a hurry you could do a local repair to keep you going but better to do the job properly. The captive nuts are fixed onto reinforcing angle irons which rust and the nuts become loose. It's best to cut out th...
