Re: special sport carbs

Adjusting the mixture to obtain fastest idle will result in slightly weak mixture throughout the rev/load range. The setting needs to be just slightly on the rich side of fastest idle . The correct method is to adjust each carburetter to the point where lifting the piston 1/32 inch = 0.8 mm results ...

Re: Fitting Borg Warner auto to my 54 Conquest

It was a Borg warner DG box . Whether it was a 150 model or a 250 I do not know. I certainly do not think it would be an easy drop in conversion because you will need the proper bell housing, and even perhaps more difficult will be the control linkages, both for the transmission selector and for the...

4 quarters = 1 hundredweight ( cwt ) = 112 lbs

Re: Water pump and pulley

KJ : unless you are going to pick up the new pulley in person, so that you can see it before you pay for it, make sure that you pay with a credit, not a debit card so that you can claim your money back from the credit card company if it turns out that it is not , after all, in stock

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Engine & Gearbox Removal

LOMH : thank you for that reply. Am I correct in thinking yours is a Left Hand Drive car ? ( I deduce this from the fact you have no problem with the throttle cross shaft, which is definitely a problem in RHD cars )

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Engine & Gearbox Removal

I'm sorry , LOMH, but I can't agree with your method , because the rear chain will almost certainly foul the throttle cross shaft on a saloon. The best place to connect the lifting tackle is to thread it through the inlet manifold

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Engine & Gearbox Removal

The engine is not quite as heavy as you suggest - nearer 200 kgs . The autobox is definitely heavier than a manual/OD box but not by more than about 25 kgs. You are probably talking about 280 kgs altogether . Taking it all out together upwards is the easiest but 1.As you suggest, , raise the rear of...

Re: 250 v8 rear hub removal (i hope)

These can be a real swine to get off. In the end I took my whole axle off and took it along to an experienced classic Jaguar workshop . Believe it or not, even they broke their forged puller doing the job, but did in the end get both hubs off. Taking the axle off is probably the easiest way . The ot...

This posting seems meaningless to me. The link goes to a wholly unrelated series of illustrations of no apparent relevance at all . Is someone spamming us ??
