Re: Removing Rear Hubs (Was - Churchill Rear Hub Puller Loan)

What I don't understand is what is wrong with buying new discs from one of the ( at least 2 ) reputable large suppliers , or from the smaller suppliers well known on this board , when they cost in relative terms the square root of diddly squat ?

Re: If I had half a million quid to spare

A fantasy advertisement . Very lucky if he manages to get 20% of that price, that's if you can find a buyer for such a monstrosity at all

Re: Saloon float chamber overflows

It sounds like a leaking float . If you take them out and shake them, if there is a leak you will hear a rattle which is the fuel inside the float. I had persistent hot start problems because of this, so I bought a pair of the non-metallic stay up floats from Burlen, ( they are well worth the extra ...

Re: Churchill Rear Hub Puller Loan.

I recommend that you take the axle out ( not that difficult ) and take it to an engineering workshop . Failing that, try the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club hire service . I am sure they do this tool

Re: engine no start hot.

The inhibitor switch may be faulty, or it could be slightly out of adjustment. It is a screw in device with a plunger on the end, mounted on the left hand wall of the gearbox and from memory there is a locknut, which if it comes loose can allow the switch to unscrew slightly. If that does not appear...

Re: Which coil?

I must sound a cautionary note about Richard's observations about dwell on the Daimler engine. He is correct that with an electronic system the dwell is attenuated and the coil needs to recharge more quickly. However, in relation to the standard system I think he has overlooked the fact that it is a...

Re: 1951 LD10 KKV 222

2 interesting points from Graham's link in relation to questions raised in the original post :

1. The battery is 12 volt

2. The left hand front door lock appears to be standard

Re: Sp250 carburettor jet replacement

Well, I stand corrected after looking at my SU Workshop manual. However, I have never found it necessary when putting in new jets on HD8 to disturb the jet locking nut , and thereby alter the position of the jet bearing, and thus we have perhaps just been lucky !

Re: Sp250 carburettor jet replacement

I have no idea what the man with the HD8s is playing at in the youtube video , but I should pay no attention to him ! HD carburetters should need no jet centring , unlike the earlier H and HS types

Re: Conquest engine casting plugs, waterways

Getting that sort of plug out after 65 years is a well-nigh impossible task . If your block is silted up, I would have thought that an easier option is to take it to be hot dipped in acid at one of the specialist industrial cleaners that can be found in many engineering centres
