Re: Alternators
556 CLU was built in 1961 and there is nothing to indicate that it was originally fitted with an alternator although, of course, one may have been fitted later. This car was not fitted with a special speedometer so it may never have been used as a "chase" car. Positive earth alternators ma...

Re: Alternators
The last 4 SP250s supplied to the Metropolitan Police were fitted with Lucas 11AC alternators and 4TR control boxes. A heavier gauge cable than standard connected these two items. The cars were also fitted with -50-0-+50 ammeters. As an aside, one of the Met. car, 667 ELL, was fitted with a "ta...

Re: chassis specs
All 3 chassis mentioned in my post of 14th Nov are listed in the factory records as "C spec". However, for many other "C spec" cars, the factory records show that as well as being "C" spec cars, they were fitted with e.g. "fog and pass lamps" or "Badge ba...

Re: chassis specs
My chassis no. is 104418, was released from the factory on 22nd June 1964, is listed as a "C" spec and has no sign of ever having been fitted with fog/spot lights or a reversing light. I have owned it since 1971. I am also aware of another "C" spec car, released from the factory ...

Steve, very much looking forward to the new ‘ 6500 clip’. The T5, is it a Borg Warner or the Tremec to whom Borg Warner sold the rights. I was going to use a BW T5 with the ratios 2.95: 1.94: 1.34; 1: and 0.63 the highest set of ratios BW did. There being so many choices of ratios which did you fina...

I, too, have been in touch with Tim. He was safe as of last Friday and included me in this message that he sent to all his friends and colleagues: Dear friends and colleagues, I am hopeless at writing a begging letter but I would like to start a fund to which anyone can contribute, which I would hav...

Re: Sp250 rear axle
The following Service Bulletins from the Daimler Company will clarify the position. The early axles did have 3 plugs but, in line with the 1961 Bulletin, the hex may have been sawn off thus disguising its presence.
