Re: Removing the oil pump/distributor drive shaft
Thanks guys for all your advice. I had the engine running with the new gear but, after having electronic ignition fitted the distributor was just touching the brass gear. I then discovered the new gea is 3mm shorter than the original so the distributor fork was just catching the brass gear. I have d...

Removing the oil pump/distributor drive shaft
I have recently overhauled my Daimler V8. In doing so I fitted a new brass gear to the oil pump/distributor drive shaft. I find now that with the engine back in the car and I come to fit the distributor, that the gear purchased from David Manners does not quite reach the distributor drive lugs. I wa...

Re: 2,5 saloon auto transmission adjustment
I finally discovered the problem with not being able to select PARK on the steering column shift lever. At the lower end of the outer cable there is a mounting point that mounts onto the rear of the bell housing. The mount has a square block attached to it which allows the outer cable to pass throug...

Re: 2,5 saloon auto transmission adjustment
I managed to get the damaged swivel joint off the lower end of the cable. I reset the steering lever to the park position and adjusted the length of the lower swivel to fit the gearbox selector lever. Now the only position I can start the car is when I move the steering Park! I'm taking the rest f t...

Re: 2,5 saloon auto transmission adjustment
Thanks for the feed back Bob. I think you are right in saying that the steering lever has reached its maximum extremity. I intend starting from the beginning by removing the messed up swivel joint from the selector on the gearbox and attempt to put that right first. I will then realign the steering ...

Re: 2,5 saloon auto transmission adjustment
I have just tried getting under the car and using a 1/2 inch spanner pushed the selector lever into the Park position with the steering column lever set in park. The engine starts but, as soon as you move the lever out of park into reverse or neutral and then back again to Park the engine does not s...

Re: 2,5 saloon auto transmission adjustment
thanks for responding Bob. The lever is in the reverse position but will not travel further to the park position as it goes to a firm stop if your try pushing it further. All the other positions operate correctly but, I can only start the car in the neutral position. The service manual says to set t...

Re: 250 V8 Rocker Shaft Posts
Thank you for the offer but I have received 4.
I also discovered the eason for the failure was 3 bent rocker shafts.
I'm still trying to fathom out the reason for bent shafts. Anybody have any ideas?
Richard
