Re: V8 250 Barn find

I still think BrExit is the best outcome for old car enthusiasts. Belgium & Brussels doesn't like them/us! Really? I can't think of a single piece of EU legislation that is bad for old car enthusiasts. I repatriated my 250 V8 a couple of years ago from Holland/Belgium without problem, but I'm n...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Overrun Blues

I used Hylomar universal blue on the threads and new copper washers on my plug tubes and they seem dry now. Biggest pita was getting the tubes out; I bought a second hand oil filler in the end and used the nut from that and the one from the oil filler tube my car to lock on the threads on the tubes.

Re: V8 oil filter conversion

I've now got the anchor off (hooray!) and fitted the adapter. Unfortunately I've obviously missed something because when I run the engine, oil pisses out from between the filter and adapter and I've lost the flexolite instructions. Helpfully they don't put them on their website (I guess they haven't...

Re: V8 oil filter conversion

Thanks to both of you. I probably won't get much time to have another go before next weekend, but current thinking is to drill a hole through the end of a piece of scaffold pole, insert that over the anchor head and pass a suitable rod through them both. Then use another piece of scaffold pole as a ...

Re: V8 oil filter conversion

Thanks Richard. Not sure removing the filter head is simple either - looks like it would require removing the manifold and exhaust downpipe just to get access to the bolts! What tool would you use to loosen or tighten it? I have lent on it with a 9" screwdriver though the hole, and bent the scr...

Re: V8 oil filter conversion

Stupid question I'm sure, but I'm not finding it easy to fit the kit I bought some time ago for my V8 saloon. I can't remove the 'anchor insert' from the 'filter head' which appears to be screwed in tight, access is poor and there's no room to get any leverage. Any hints? I assume it's a normal thre...

Re: Electrically v hydrogen powered vehicles

I think driverless cars will change the whole game. Once you have driverless cars (and it won't be long) you'll call the car to the door when you want to go somewhere and it'll go and recharge itself at a central storage point when you are not using it. That covers most local journeys and gets over ...

Windscreen fitting near Bristol

I'm looking for someone to remove and replace the windscreen and rear screen using new rubber surrounds (I have the rubber surrounds) on my 2.5L saloon. I'm near Yate just north of Bristol.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Re: Leather seat restoration

I bought a kit from furniture clinic and repaired and resprayed my seats. Some splits and holes but they came up OK. I think if you are going to get them recovered you end up buying new foam etc and it starts to cost a lot. If you go the DIY route I recommend you buy a cheap compressor to spray the ...
