Re: Crankcase breathers?
Oil loss is rarely due to ONE issue such as leaking rear main seal..think 'cause and effect' and ask WHY it is leaking from rear main seal.. commonly the actual problem is wear in the engine.. the symptom of that wear is oil loss.. rear main seal usually leaks for 2 reasons:- main bearing wear and w...

Re: Re building an engine
Incidentally.. I purchased a late V8250 engine from fellow in the west country a couple of years back ..described as having 'been fully rebuilt by a technical college' it came from a manual overdrive car ( hence no set up for the auto box kick down) and I also purchased all the manual conversion bit...

Re: Re building an engine
whilst you can drop the sump (after removing radiator and engine mounts to get the lower part of engine high enough to be accessible to move the sump) and do a thorough inspection, the likelihood of a scored/oval crankshaft is strong.. your low oil pressure is likely the result of worn main bearings...

Re: V8 250 Tie rod removal

Re: painting wire wheels
Powder coating is a practical solution for re-finishing scruffy wire wheels.. just be sure they are in excellent condition before starting the process.. check for loose spokes, trueness and wear on splines. if in any doubt.. replace with new wheels.. commonly the usual situation I come across is 2 c...

Re: Empress 2 for Sale
'Engine swaps' can and usually do detract from a vehicles value.. but not always.. some countries want allow you to register 'modified' cars . BTW..the 'easier to drive' hydramatic as fitted to the vauxhall 'cresta' is a 2 speed unit.. NOT 3 speed as the ad states.. Id suggest the car would not loos...

the 'high torque' starts that is supplied for the Austin healey 100/6 and 3000 fits the Daimler V8 saloon... Im unsure about number and pitch of ring get teeth on the SP 250 so cant say if same starter will fit .. there are several suppliers of these...the company I recommend is 'Gustavson Machine'..

Re: Dart Valve stem seal
the later B.L. 'A' plus engines used a valve stem seal which will fit the 2 1/2 litre turner V8 ( I beIieve you quoted to correct part number) when fitted with the modified valve guides that are machined for a seal and are currently supplied by most jaguar/daimler parts specialists ..they can also b...

Re: V8-250: Crankshaft difference
All the Turner V8s have the crankshafts threaded at the front (nose) end as far as my knowledge goes.... the front pulley has to be secured.. period .. I have never seen one with internal threads.. every one I have personally observed has an external thread up front that the pulley nut threads on to...
