Re: Where is the Engine number on a DB18?

Hi Graham, I asked the same question in April this year and received this reply, “Off side front of engine block just above the generator bracket. Don't confuse the small brass plaque nearby, this is a list number. The engine number is stamped in the block.” Hope this is of interest Regards Dave W

Re: Not charging

I had a similar problem on my DB18 sports special. I used Sprint Electrics near Warminster PM me for details. He charged about £60 to test and set up the regulator. I took my dynamo as well so he could put it all on his test rig.

Re: Trafficator Switch

Hi Dennis,

I have just changed my trafficator switch today, you are welcome to the one I have taken off. The indicator lever has broken but the rest of the switch may be of use to rebuild yours. PM me your address and I will pop it in the post.

Quick update. Stripped head off again and found three inlet valves were not seating properly, even though lapped in previously. Rebuilding it now will give it another go later in the week

Re: Daimler 15 starting

Hi Andy, there is no attempt to start at all.

Soundmike, I note your comments regarding the fluid flywheel, and that makes perfect sense. I do like the idea of a separate feed to the coil, I will give it a try this afternoon.

Re: Daimler 15 starting

Thanks guys, that was my thought about the fluid flywheel. The engine turns over freely, the timing is set Ok, I have petrol to and through the carburitor. I have sparks, at the right time, at each plug. But it will not start. I have batteries link together and just purchased a booster yesterday, bu...

Daimler 15 starting

Can anybody confirm if I can bump start a Daimler 15. I have just rebuilt the engine and I can’t get enough grunt to get it started, so I was thinking about towing it? Any thoughts?

Footman James offer a discount on my classic insurance because I am a member of the Jaguar Enthusiast Club. Can anybody tell me if it is the same with the DLOC?
