Hardy Engineering are rebuilders of axles and gearboxes and have completed dozens of SP250 units.
Today they recommend using EP85W-140GL5, a common brand is Comma but any will be fine.

I have both Vandervell and Glacier NOS main and big end bearings in some sizes. I also have original main bearing caps in sets or individually, and the centre three as a set machined from solid with the appropriate cap bolts.

I am not trying to be a scaremonger but please do not use adaptors. Just consider the original tyres were only 590's on 4½J rims and you will be fitting at least 5" probably with a lower profile tyre and definitely stickier rubber. Apart from adaptors being poor engineering practice the additio...

I have new chassis plates in stainless steel identical to the original available at £18.50 each, on which you can stamp/engrave your own chassis number. Or order one from Laurence Jones who will get it professionally engraved for you.

The CWPs were made by Guest Gears in Herts a long established and well known company that has have all the necessary equipment to manufacture and test the product under load. They made the first batch of 45 a few years ago and I expect the majority have now been used in rebuilding broken axles. The ...
