Re: Crankshaft damper for fast road V8 engine?

Hello Sonus, Is there any reason why the damper shown on the Larry Ligas race engine will not be suitable for you ?? Or do I take it he is running a small Ford block, hence the damper shown ?? Did ATI give any indication as what to look for ?? Regards. Richard. Not really, Ligas' has modified it sl...

Re: Crankshaft damper for fast road V8 engine?

Hello, The damper pictured in the thread looks to be supplied by ATI, an American company. Looking at their website I can see a listing for Jaguar bit not Daimler, I do not know if the Jaguar one is a suitable fitment in relation to the V8 crankshaft. Perhaps someone will be able to shed some light...

Don’t know about the weight but originals are known to deteriorate and fall apart.
And they are very heavy when you add up the hub, damper and pulley.

Crankshaft damper for fast road V8 engine?

What is the general consensus on the crankshaft damper for the Daimler V8 engine? I see some racers change it for a aftermarket item. This is Larry Ligas' racer http://www.britishracecar.com/LarryLigas-Daimler-SP250/LarryLigas-Daimler-SP250-BI.jpg My fast road engine will be fully balanced. Do I sti...

Re: Max overbore Daimler V8

Good call on the cam, at least you get a full sized base circle. Which profile are you going to get ? steve Going for the same spec as Fred did for his midget I have since decided to revise the camshaft spec. Especially regarding the overall valve lift which is excessive on a road engine IMO.

Dellow conversions have a Daimler either auto or manual at a lower price than those from New Zealand too. The SP250 is not listed but they can made them in a week or so.

But that is for the Toyota W158 gearbox only isn't it?

Re: Oil on cam cover?

I have the same issue and spoke to Russ Carpenter about ti and he suggested it might be the O-ring in the distributor base that is leaking
