Thanks for your replies. I haven’t had the time to pursue this yet, but I’ll post up if I find a definitive answer.

Re: What oils/grease to use

I read the new section on lubes and fluids with great interest as I am currently trying to buy a suitable antifreeze in France. Sadly I can’t find any of the suggested products available here and shipping from the UK is difficult post Brexit. Having done some research it seems that British Standard ...

V8 250 power steering hose replacement

Morning, I would like to replace the low pressure return hose between the steering unit and reservoir. Can I simply cut the old rubber hose from the metal part of the pipe and replace it securing with a jubilee clip? The old hose is secured with a clip, but not something that can be undone. At the r...

Re: V8 250 Sump gaskets

Hi Roger Thanks for the reply and the link. I did the job this afternoon and it went OK. I was working alone and had the sump In position on a trolley Jack. I found I needed a little jacking pressure before I could engage the bolts, but once I did they pulled the sump into place without undue pressu...

V8 250 Sump gaskets

I have had to remove the sump and bought new gaskets to refit. They need to be trimmed to size, so I thought I’d use the old gaskets as a template. However, the old gaskets seem to me to be too short and do not come anywhere near the top of the sump. The front seal is short by 15mm each side and the...

Re: Rocker shaft removal

Thanks for your reply Richard. I confirm I have the locking bolts in place, but can’t spin the engine as it’s out of the car at the moment. I’ll try some penetrating oil and heat as you suggest but I’m not very hopeful as they seem absolutely rock solid.

Rocker shaft removal

Any tips or techniques for removing the rocker shafts on a V8 saloon? The head bolts are out, but the rocker shaft mountings do not want to move. I’m hesitant to use much force trying to lever or tap them for fear of damaging something.
Thanks for any ideas.

Re: V8 oil leak from inhibitor switch

Thanks for your reply Richard. I have sealed the thread and all seems OK now. What I found was interesting though and may help other owners with intermittent leaks. The engine and gearbox are on the floor very slightly higher at the gearbox end. I couldn’t remove the inhibitor switch without a lot o...

Re: V8 saloon coolant circulation

Thank you all for the replies. I think I will order a set of core plugs, remove the old ones and give everything a good clean up and flush. I will certainly replace the antifreeze with the correct type.
Many thanks
