Re: Mazak exterior trim

I believe that these sort of items are manufactured by Ashwater http://www.ashwater-classics.co.uk/catalogue.pdf
I've never actually used this company myself , so I can't confirm if they do supply outside the trade.

Re: DB18 Interior Light Switch

This is the front view as seen when the switch is fitted behind the bezel, but it would need a backing of some sort to hold the switch in place.

Re: Time for service

I would expect either David Beales or John Nash to offer oil change kits ( filter, sealing ring & sump plug washer) in their EBay shops. Classic Oils at Bicester have a wide range of oils for classics and an excellent delivery service. When checking the FF level, I found that using a finger to hold ...

Re: DB18 Interior Light Switch

I've just come across this switch assembly whilst searching for a gasket, is it what you are looking for?

Apologies for the delay in replying: I thought that might have something suitable, but only found it today.

Re: Registration number archives

Hi David, Firstly, how is your own restoration going? My experience with the JDHT is that, in exchange for a fee, they should be able to supply a date that your chassis number left the factory, and possibly the dealer to whom it was consigned. That seems to be the price that the club paid when handi...

Re: 1951 DB18 Consort steering box

Graham: as per my reply in you previous topic " One week of Ownership" , the recommended procedure is for the steering box to be removed, complete with column, via the interior of the car. David Beales' DB18 workshop manual, which can be purchased from his eBay shop, includes the procedure.

Daimler Door Hinges

Thanks for the reply David: the car came with the doors off and hinges still attached to door itself without any shims either in situ or loose in with the removed components. I did test the effect of fitting shims by inserting washers between the back of the hinge and the B post but found that the r...

DB18 Door Hinges

I'm on a mission to adjust the door hinges of my Barker SS so that I don't have to slam the drivers door shut. The passenger side shuts nicely, so I have a measure of what should be possible. The SS door profile has two distinct shoulders when viewed from the front and I can see that the larger shou...

Re: One week of ownership

It wasn't cheap Graham : £1900 + VAT for a complete rebuild. Unfortunately, he is the only person that I could find with the knowledge, tools and spare parts for the Marles box. Suggest a phone call and he might indicate a cost based upon the symptoms you describe. Removing the box was a bit long wi...

Re: One week of ownership

Hi Graham, Marles Steering Boxes can overhaul your steering box, although it will have to be removed from the vehicle and delivered to their Herefordshire premises. If it helps, I can send you the special crate that I had made so that my steering box could be couriered there. They have a website or ...
