More Brakes! - sp250
I'm going to have my brake calipers refurbished as the pistons are not free. I know I coul do it myself but I'm a liottle incapacitated at the moment so it will be entrusted to a local guy who I know can do a good job. It seems to me that the original set up is quite adequate, but a sensible modific...

Re: Ignitioin Light remains on SP 250
Thanks Nick and Ivor for your input.
I took it out for a run last evening and the car behaved perfectly. Having checked all the connections I can see al all OK and being no good at vehicle electrics I'm booking it in with an auto electrician on Monday to sort.

Ignitioin Light remains on SP 250
Noticed this afternoon that the ignition light stays on after starting the engine - it goes off when the revs get to 2500 and then stays off for a few minutes. the comes on again.
Befor I start - any simple ideas?
The car has an alternator and electronic ignition.

Re: Headlights dim when engine idles
Thanks to Ian and Syd. With the engine idling at 500 rpm and the headlights on the ammeter shows discharge, but when the revs are upped to 8/900 rpm the ammeter swingsd across to positive, Syd hits the nail on the head. When Grinter fitted the alternator he mentioned he's put a smaller pulley on it,...

Headlights dim when engine idles
The car is an SP 250 but I guess this might well apply across many models: in the evening, when stopped and the engingine idles the headlights dim. The battery is one year old and in the garage is kept on a battery conditioner, which shows it is fully charged. The car is fitted with a 'Dynamator' al...

Re: SP250 bonnet alignments
Thanks Ian I thought that might be the answer so I've tried that - even purchased and fitted a new striker pin assembly in case the pin was bent, but no (or not much) better. I'll have to keep nudging in to port and see if persistance, perseverance and their cousin expletive have any effect. Thanks ...

SP 250 fuel filter connection
I'm busy upgrading the fuel lines to Gates barricade to cope with the ethanol problem. I've just replaced the pipe from the copper line that runs the length of the car to the fuel filter - and at that end there's a leak. The photographs show the connection. Should there be a washer? I didn't see one...

SP250 bonnet alignments
For an unknown reason the bonnet onmy SP250 has become misaligned to an extent that the side of the bonnet is rubbing against the body and has worn the paint away. Its difficult to measure accurately but it seems to have moved 1-2mm. I've slackened the nuts on the hinges (both on the bonnet hinge an...

Re: Petrol leak by connection to carburettors
IMG_2671.JPG Richard alas not the case - see the picture. My fuel comes throug a pipe to the filter bown, then to carb No 1 and thence to carb 2 - so three seperate pipes involved and no 'banjo' connector involved. So I guess i'm still looking for someone to make up a special. Although the car is o...
