Re: V8-250 Saloon: LED's & HT Leads

Hi, Richard. My SP250 had an irritating misfire above 4,500 rpm and I was advised that the solid-core ignition leads may have been the culprits. Changed to a set of Magnecor leads and the misfire is gone AND the EMI/RFI that was affecting the flasher unit is also history, so that problem is solved. ...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: LED's & HT Leads

Glad to hear you are making progress, Richard.

I look forward to hearing of 100% success with the in-line suppressor :D. I may then follow your "lead" (apologies) so that I can get rid of the resistors and use the solid-state flasher

With best wishes,

Simon

Re: V8-250 Saloon: LED's & HT Leads

Hi, Richard. Lovely day here, sunny, dry and with nobody on the road, and I managed to get out in the car for the first time in a month. I can confirm that 3.3ohm resistive loads in parallel with the rear indicators and a traditional thermal flasher unit do work. No reason, of course, that they shou...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: LED's & HT Leads

Hi Richard.

Very interesting. I looked at silicon leads but didn’t go that route initially (a) because of the cost and (b) because I didn’t know if it would work. I look forward to hearing of your success... If they do work, it will be money well spent.

With best wishes,

Simon

Re: V8-250 Saloon: LED's & HT Leads

Richard, I have exactly the same problem with my SP, with LEDs and flasher unit from Classic Car Leds. On Duncan's advice I fitted an in-line suppressor, (supplied by Auto Electrical Supplies Ltd., part number 060603), in the lead from the coil to the distributor. It cured the problem at idle and ha...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Thermostat

Hi, Richard. No, not a Daimler requirement per se. I have changed the water temp gauge (purists look away now) to a Smiths Cobra type, since that matches the oil temp gauge I have fitted instead of the ammeter. The gauge I had was an unbranded one that didn't work with the sensor fitted and I did no...

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Thermostat

AND YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!

My wife is always telling me that my memory has gone; 5/8 UNF it is!

I know it is right this time because I have just checked the adapter I ordered and fitted last week.

Apologies for any confusion!

Re: V8-250 Saloon: Thermostat

IF (a big if) it is the same as the SP250, it is 5/16 UNF.
